I have 5000 mi on my 2006 Attak and noticed some oil on the bottom of my chain case cover. From reading the many post on this issue I ordered a new one assuming mine was the old one. I am in the process of changing the cover but the old one and the new one both have 202232 stamped in the cover. The difference of the shoulder is minimal if any. The part I ordered was 8fr-47543-02-00. How can I be sure mine is the old one and the new one is the updated one?
Also can I re-use the bearing for the new cover if I replace? Are the alignment post removable and reusable?

Replace the bearings now and the post. The bearings getting to that point in time of need to be new, and the post will mostly not come out clean.
Thanks for the replies it makes sense to get new bearings.
Since the old cover & new cover both have 202232 stamped in it does that indicate my sled already has the updated cover?

Thanks H&Kracer.
The reason I wanted to verify that the old and new covers had different casting number is because I am perplexed on how the sled came to have the updated cover. I bought it new. I did have it in for service during break in and for oil changes but no mention of swapping the cover by the dealer.

Yamaha issue a recall?? Haha, that is laugh-able They are called "Tech Bulletins" and they make you pay for them rather than stepping up to the plate and admitting there is a problem and taking care of it, unlike other manufacturers.
