2015 SRViper R-tx-Le
I was at the snowmobile show today and talking with yamaha rep about few issues. There is a re flash coming hopefully before snow falls next year for the starters going for a crap. They figure ECU related. Also the they are celebrating there 50th year next year not 2018 but no word on new machine. They are listening to the issues just slow on fixing but are working on it.

I was there Friday and also ask about the apex, one being the seat n why they don't raise it a few more inches my answer was yamaha don't think like us, we would just add more foam and that's it for them to raise the seat they would put the sled in the wind tunnel and start from the begining hood windshield bars n etc... Got the tint that the apex will be the same for a few more years with minor tweaks...
The viper sales are helping in the push for development but it won't happen over night, he also said he thinks this thing with cat will go on another 5 years after the first 5...
We waited this long what's another few more years lol...
Looks like the viper move is paying off... They are selling good numbers...

We can only dream off a viper type sled built in Japan...

2 different guys talked to Yammie Reps & 2 completely different stories. Gotta love it.

I think Manufacturers reps havent a clue re future product . Not sure why they say stuff.

I know my rep doesn't know anything of the future plans of Yamaha.

I think your right they are not told anything. I'm surprised he told me they are celebrating 50th next year. Not that really means anything.

So the 2008 model year was the 45th, 2017 model year the 50th. Must be Japanese math. They have no clue. But I hope they are right, whatever that brings.

Yep odd the way they figure the anniversery year. 1968 was sl350 and as I remember not available for sale to the public and the 1969 SL351 was the first year model sold to the public. As a kid I rode that SL350 that our dealer got 1 of for a test sled for a bit, fun to think you rode the first Yamaha model snowmobile! But yeah there probably was a 1967 prototype somewhere...........

2008 was the 40th anniversary. 2018 should be the 50th anniversary.

I don't understand all the distain for these sleds being built in the US in partnership with Arctic Cat.
From my prospective, and I have said before "if this makes both of these manufacturers better it's good for all of us", we as snowmobilers can't afford to lose either of them.
Cat has been by far the most innovative of all the manufacturers, it's just that it was the late 60's to early 70's since they were The class of the industry for fit and finish.
Yamaha has been the leader in Engine technology and overall reliability, as well as fit and finish, this should be the marriage made in snowmobile heaven.
My only complaint is Let the people that designed and developed the Engine program the ECU.

Could not agree more.

If I worked for Yamaha, I would have elected that the Nytro ECU stay with the 1049 and have both Yamaha and Cat come up with a way to use the Cat display. Let Cat figure out their own ECU (which is what happened) if they wanted to keep the 7000 all Arctic Cat.

NOW this makes sense!

The people with the History with the motor, and did the design of the motor do the ECU for the motor.........why didn't that make the sense to them?

But I should not criticize as I loved my sled and it has never let me down.

Can some one explain how the starter issue is directly related to ECU.... I must have missed it.

Yamadoo
