Another Yamaslop cure.

I found significant upward movement of the steering shaft when moving the skis from side to side. The shaft will travel up and down in its aluminum mount approximately 6mm when the sled is lifted and the skis are moved from side to side. This translates into a slop that can't be fixed with new tie rod ends or bushings. I went to work on a fix for this and came up with a solution that I am testing. This mod took so much slop out of the steering system I couldn't believe it. Will post results.

Its nuts that such a small amount of slop in a joint translates to so much movement at the ski.

Ruckus as soon as snow is gone waging war on front end and any fix you come up with will be appreciated I have ups steering kit ulmers bushing kit , nco lower ball joint fix and oft steering block fix so i'll have it all apart anyway and want to do it all.

home depot has shims of all sizes and types for 60 cents each perfect for this stuff

There are shims in there from the factory. I was thinking the next time I change my oil I would get more of the same shims and stack them to remove the slop.

the ones from factory are 9 bucks a piece or you can get the home depot ones.

I put a washer from my Steering Pivot Arm Kit in to remove the up and down play. I'll take a picture next time it is apart and post it.

I must have a lot more slop than you guys because the shaft moves 6mm (3/8"). I moved the whole bracket assembly up rather than putting shims under the spline.

Wow that seems like something is wrong.Maybe some of the subframes were made wrong?

I found that the bottom assembly is moving quite a bit and by supporting the vertical shaft and taking up the slack it almost completely stops. Perhaps the amount of movement is indicative to the amount of mileage on the sled.
