Hello,
Is there any advantage of using Yamacool antifreeze over other anti-freeeze in a RX-1? If not what brand/type of anti-freeze do you recommend.
Is it okay to add to the existing anti-freeze with another brand of anti-freeze or should the anti-freeze be drained then replaced with the new brand?
Thanks for any help that anyone can give me.

i believe that most brands are compatable with each other, so there is no need to drain and refill. what is important is the ratio of af to water, use a tester to confirm freeze protection to app. -35, many sleds come from the factory with too much antifreeze in the mixture, that leads to overheating.

as long as you use the green stuff and not the red GM stuff it is ok to use a different brand .

That red gm stuff is all hype. They're all ethylene glycol, which is colorless. The color added doesn't make any difference. Different antifreeze manufacturers add different "additives" to their coolants, but the color has no bearing on those additives, so in terms of additives, you have no idea what you're getting anyways. Red "GM" coolant does NOT have the same additives as red non-GM coolant.
