hey guys, anyone have an update on conditions in bracebridge, huntsville areas ?
how much snow & are trails opening again ?
how is the ice ?
anyone running lake of bays or lake muskoka yet ?

Muskoka got about 18 inches over the past day or so - I was speaking with a dealer up there on Friday and apparently the the lakes/bays are still open. Parry Sound/Midland areas got an absolute s$@t load of snow -36 inches. I'm just north of Barrie (Horseshoe Valley area) and we got roughly 18 inches all lake effect snow - not much in Barrie though. The province wide system today should deliver a solid 4-6 inches, depending on were you are... ;)!

anybody know much much snow owen sound/port elgin got? tryin to make reservations for hotels on where to go , but the people at the hotels arent too smart when u ask how much snow they have? the trails are being groomed right now, just hopefully the trails will be open this weekend!!( still say closed on website)

cheers

we all just got back from a 175mile ride from my place(port sydney) to parry sound VIA sprucedale(D trail) and then seguin to parry sound,...

Let me tell ya...we got about 12-15 inches here in port sydney the last 2 days but holy crap...parry sound had a fresh 3 foot id say,and we were riding the seguin which wasnt groomed this morning yet,and it was tough getting down the trail it was so damn deep!...this is a hi speed OLD railbed that typically you run 60-80mph on....we were maybe going 10 mph at times!..lol...better on the way home as it had been groomed!....

trails up here are all pretty damn good now, only a couple bad spots if any....more snow coming now heavy as I type.....also,lakes are slushy now with all the snow, and not very thick..but some are being run..like PENN lake at deerhurst has tracks down it....a few on mary lake in port, not many though....

Lake o bays has some tracks on it but not too safe yet IMO....lots o slush!

thanks for the update dan !
sounds like things are shaping up again.
would it be a safe bet to say bracebridge, baysville, port & dorset should be reasonable trails ?

sounds like the ice is still pretty sketchy.

How are the washouts? My old lady almost smashed my RTX up on the railbed a couple of weekends ago because she got sick of riding her 500 and the next corner she hooked a ski in a washout and my heart stopped? I thought my sled was F'd. In the Haliburton Forest last weekend all the bad washouts from the weekend before were fixed. Anyone been to Whitney or Lake St. Peter?

we got a ton of snow in most all regions the last 2-3 days...there is ALOT more snow north of huntsville for sure,id say 3 feet of base easily up around seguin....but we got a fair bit here too....im on mary lake(near port sydney) and we got another 6" last night so id say in total of about 18-20" since the huge thaw.....

trails are decent, and most are now rated as LIMITED or OPEN......the reason being is any of the low lying areas had major washouts from the thaw, and those creeks are still running....we had to cross a few of those in parry sound...the waters are still receding and groomer keep filling the major ones in so they will be decent soon enough.

I know port sydney trails are all in damn decent shape...i wouldnt call them excellent yet,but about as good as ive seen all this winter for sure.

lakes now have alot of snow on them again, and are slushy....i havent run mary lake yet but will probably in a day or two...just wont be stopping out there...probably about 8 inches of ice in some areas, but problem is we had alot of running water, and lakes opening up alot near rivers,so some of those 8 inch spots can go down to NIL at spots....so stay off them for now if you can...or go like hell with a new belt.lol.

anyone trailering up....unloading at ULTRAMAR(south mary lake exit, port sydney) would be a great start IMO......but ride north from there up D trail to seguin...all nice, and it gets better and better as you go north....the sand lake area, kearny, burks falls, novar, over to parry sound have awesome trails...and DEEP snow.

Dan... are you riding sunday? might be coming up with a few friends. we haven't decided where to ride yet. are the trails snow covered ?

Just got back from yet another ride....WE just went down to bracebridge for dinner at purple pig...man that place was packed for a thursday night....wing night!...lots of sledders there....

trails are simply awesome tonight....its real cold and light traffic on weekdays so it was tight and you could just fly thru there...not a bump for 80 miles!

ran from port sydney down to bracebridge....also I ran across my lake(Mary lake) which has about a foot of snow on it...slushy spots too but no problem.

cya all at the 08 DEMO RIDES at deerhurst resort ....Dano and I should be there friday and our entire apex crew will all be there again sat....I want to try to nytro.

I'd imagine it's going to be a busy weekend...We may be heading towards Deerhurst on Saturday. Keep an eye out for the candy RX doing wheelies...it'll be me :).

Heading out again now.....Dano and I are heading over to deerhurst today, and should be there again tomorrow.....

we got another fresh 4 inches of snow here overnight and still coming down like a bastard as I type this...man i cannot beleive how much snow we got back in such little time, after losing so much in the big thaw...we are lucky!....
