I hear yamaha uses a wet clutch starter system. Has anyone had problems with there starters not working because they didn't run yamalube or oil that didn't meet jaso MA specs.

You will be fine. The starter is not a wet clutch system, it is a one way locking pin design. The motor oil will not hurt it.
