Anybody using the new fully synthetic Yamalube?

Using Mobile 1 0-30 fully syn & has been good to me & available at Walmart. Yam 0-40 fully syn seems too thick to me.

tried just about everywhere in town here (sask canada) to try and find 0w20 nobody has it or can even get it walmart does not have it...mobil 1 says on their website that its discontinued...where are you guys finding it....the closest i have come is amsoil 0 w 20...but its 2 weeks away...

I wouldn't go lower then what Yamaha specs. When that motor gets heated up good 0w20 may not stick to the surfaces as well. It may drain off too soon before it gets another wetting.

new yamaha oil

I would not use the new yamaha 40 wieght oil, I tried it and found that right away I lost some performance, like Mike said it tends to make your sled feel like a bit of a dog.

If you really want to go fast, replace oil with trans fluid. I did it, and I felt that I gained 9.75 HP

DON'T do it. I'm just trying to stay with the spirit of this topic. I've been smoking something funny also.

If anybody has so much friction that it causes the engine to heat up, you are in trouble. I'm not an engineer either, but I always thought it was the fuel combustion in the cylinders that heated the engine. I think that's why they have a water jacket around the cylinders.

I don't see why you can't use it right away, the Ski-Doo 1200 comes from the factory with synthetic 0-40 (starts at -30 like it was inside) and all of the Rotax quads have synthetic from factory as well.

I didn't mean damageing heat or excessive heat but if you run the engine hard, fast, etc. it may not lube like it should with 20w. I've seen truck engines loose oil (read from a mechanical gauge) pressure because of me working it way too hard. If anyone here does use 20w I'd let it idle awhile after a hard run to cool down before shuting it off. Of course with these machines too long and it will shut off by itself.

This is all from my own expierence of course of 45 years dealing with pushing 4 strokes in one way or another.
