The foam was sort of rubbery feeling and I thought soft but sort of not too soft. If I did it again, and I may change it. I would go with a little stiffer foam. It is softening some from being pounded by my butt..
I did not glue it. Just centered it up and restapled. You will need a nice fine blade screw driver to remove the staples. They can be hard to get unded and you will sometimes puncture the material but it did not bother and I put lots of staples back in. You will need a power stapler and you have to be sure and get it flat and square and even then some will not go in. I just pulled them out and tried again when that would happen. I bet there were 25 or so that did not go in the first shot.
Its not that bad of a job. I did it in about 2 hours while watching tv with a couple of beers and took my time... Trimming the foam took most of the time as I had to sort of trim and set it on there to see how it worked.
I ended up tapering in up the side so that the top where you sit is narrower than the bottom. At first when I sat on it I thought ..oh no too narrow but as it turns out it is real good because when you have to lean off the side it is compfortable and easier to do...
It is a very worth while project. The ride is VASTLY improved...
