Anyone having overheating light come on?

I finally got to ride this past week, only 80 miles, but it was awesome! My overheat light came on while it was idling so I shut it off for a bit. Later that day it came on again ( idling) so for the hell of it I started riding some more. After a minute or so, the light went out and didn't have the problem again.

Also had ice buildup, but I'm bringing a rubber mallet w/ me to knock it out when we take breaks.

All in all I love this sled. I've only been riding 3 years, went from a 2000 MXZ 700 to this, waaaaay more comfortable, easier to steer, plenty of power for the riding I do.

I have had the overheating issue too, and was told by my dealer that Yamaha was working on it.

Hopefully a free fan :)

The fan is the answer I have a Mountain Lite and have never seen the light come on and this is what I ride in, check out the picture. Hopefully Yamaha will come through for the FX & GT crowd. I have a radiator guard that I made that is under the (hole in radiator thread) so side panel does not fill up full of snow and ice. POWDER RULES

First of all anyone who has his name should not be allowed to post his name as phazer junk, i think that it is a very mean name to choose!! But in all seriousness i have the FX model and have experienced overheating problems in the 12.4 miles that i have drove it. :moon:

I've seen the check engine light, but not the overheating light on my mtn lite... check engine was due to low oil, when I rolled it on its side and it poured out.. some of it.

Yes - the fan is a must!!

I can leave my mountain lite idling there forever and it won't overheat. I have never had the light on, and I clog both the heat exchanger and the rad up at the same time, that fan does wonders.

i was aware of that fan but its expensive, yamaha should of put one on all phazer imo.got it today and the damn thing doesnt fit cause i have the coolant heather installed .its pushing against it,missing 1/4 inch

$166 Venture Lite fan and Water Wetter worked for me! Wish Yami would re-imburse us for the fans!

I just purchased a fan for my phazer fx and the total price came to $192.00 It better help my problem or I will not be happy.

I finally have 600km on my fx now and the overheating issus semms to have disappeared. I have not changed my driving style and the snow conditions are the same. I have also now tried to make it overheat by going from powder to the trails and back again and still no more issues. I was told they may just need to be broke in properly. Whatever the case is...no more overheating and I didn't have to fork out any more money.

I'm finally very happy with the fx

David
