Some answers... My post is two inches taller than stock, lightweight MPI. You actually have to lower it a bit (3/4 inch) when rotating it to clear the gas tank, and keep linkages aligned.
The hood and tank shroud both need half circle cutouts. Column passes right between them. Actually, disconnecting cables to pass handlebars down through the original hole is the toughest part of the mod.
You use original parts and mounting holes and grinding is minimal so you could switch back petty easy. Clearing for steering stops and achieving correct bracket angles is tricky but would be much easier now that I have a sequence.
I'll work up some instructions and drawings to help if you are interested. PM me your emails and I'll send them.
WARNING!!! Although it feels pretty stout when yanking on it ( at least as stout as original) I can't guarantee anything. Won't see real test for some time.

Somebody needs to get some aluminum stock that would fit for the extra blocking. Get the pieces cut, drill some holes, and then sell a gaggle of them to people like us. I might try to make the blocks out of Teflon. We'll see.

Yeah A rider forward "kit " could've made some bucks with the proper marketing.

Looks to me like the guage pod might fit in the old hole if you moved the ignition to the other side and cut out for the pod. That would be cool and you'd actually be able to see the guages. Man, I wanna do it!!!! You should post this over on the RX shorty threads. Those guys would love it too. Nice way to get rider forward without shelling out $10,000.
There ya go Red! However, you still need more padding just behind the tank if you were planning to sit there at all, but standing can be allot easier now. It's definitely closer to an '06, ergo-wise. I'm impressed.
