Anyone try the Curve XS Skis with the Leading Edge option?

What are the negative effects of dual carbides?

The guys at curve have indicated to me that being previous snocross racers and doing so much testing and design time with skis,that they didn't like the handling in many situations with dual runners,such as
-spreading the weight out over a double parallel surface for less penetrating bite
-filling with snow becoming less effective for certain things,
-double the weight of unsprung mass,etc

I'm quite sure that the dual runner debate could get as good as another "which oil is best " debate. and there are probably hundreds of personal experiences and opinions,however I was just answering the question regarding the design of the ski needing an add on for when it is just running on the runner without the ski fully into the snow.

yamahas - my experience with duals is they like to push in a corner. They all but eliminate darting but the handling isn't as precise as a well set up single.

That said I am running duals now and will put up with the push to ride straight down the trail with one hand.

Curve looks to have the hot ticket with the LE and thier ski.

The reason we are handling these skis here in Canada is because we believe in them. We have tested many other aftermarket skis on our demo sled models.... most have varying degrees of deeper keels...some you need to be a gorrilla to turn them,others seem to dart worse or do nothing,...the curveXS is a different design,we have been very happy with the curves .

The price of these skis is similar to C&A 's and others...the LE is a optional add on,...and nope,it is not necessary for all. .

Thanks for the explanation. Okay, I wouldn't ride in the icy conditions you describe because of burning up the slides (Hyfax). I asked the question because I remember a lot of talk on here last year about guys fiddling a lot with adjustments trying to get the Curves to work right

As for the taxes here it is 13% HST; which includes the Federal GST and the Provincial PST.

I calculated the price as follows:
Skis and loops $479
Carbides $65
LE $79
Tax $81
Total $704 plus shipping

It is not always just ice,but sometimes hard groomed trails that the ski can't do much because it is very hard snow,but you are probably correct,myself I don't use the LE,but some people are very sensitive to darting and ride a lot in that type of condition.

Don't forget the $479 Canadian includes the mounting hardware,etc...some brands have more expensive mounting hardware that is not in the advertisements,

$65 is a good price on 6" carbides.

...the LE option is not really that expensive considering its a quality peice that works well,and when you compare it to replacing dual runners it doesn't sound so bad.

Helix- I already have a set of Curves on my wife's Vector and just want to order the Leading Edge only. Seeing as how this would be a Canadian Curve order, is the shipping free? How long would they take to ship to Ontario? She says to wait for the Powersports Show in the fall and save the extra charges as she can live with the darting but she is starting to drive a little slower and that conversation can be a touchy subject!

Another great feature of Curve Industries is the exceptional customer support they are willing to give you. I had the opportunity to meet Nick on a TY ride last year which convinced me to go with their skis. This year, I called Nick and asked if he could set my ski alignment. I was in his area recently, and he willingly made the time and set my ski alignment with a lot of precision. It would be very hard to get this service elsewhere.

Concerning the LE as helix suggests, it's not a necessity but an option. We typically don't recommend you buy a set straight off unless you ride mainly on hard pack or do not have time for a proper suspension setup. They can always be added later on. Also, they typically are not required at all on the Polaris or Ski-Doo chassis... nature of the beasts I suppose.

We have several sets of LE's with over 4kmi on them and haven't had a set replaced due to wear yet. The carbide cutting edges on the front (part of our patent) is what really makes them last.

Again, there are no side affects to adding them later. Steering effort stays the same, cornering performance is unchanged and fuel economy is not decreased. You loose nothing and what darting was present typically falls off by 90% or more - with no other changes.
