I am curious about the most effective clutch kit out there. Hear lot of good things about Proline and Ulmer Stage 2. Is there any advantage to one or the other?? Are both kits trailable?? It's time to weigh in with some results.

I can only tell my real world results. My buddy and both bought 06 RTXs from the same dealer with out reverse at the same time. They both have the same amount of miles on them. I put an Ulmer Stage II kit on mine. I also have a 40 tooth bottom and over drove the primary. We raced this weekend. I'm 230, he's 180. I had about 7 gallons of gas in the tank, his fuel light was on. By the time 660 came around I was about 5-6 sleds ahead of him and then just kept pulling away. Then we switched sleds. The results were even more dramatic. The FACT is, Ulmer's kit rocks!

c'mon, bet there are a few watching this one for answers
I think youd be surprised what gearing down will do for you in a drag race vs. stock gearing. Ill leave this post her for a bit, but should have been posted in the clutching section...BBY

I'm watching! Who gets my money?
I have Ulmer kits in both my RX-1 and my Apex Attak.
Unbeaten to date by any modified sled I have ran.
F7's, Rev 800's, ZR900's, ZR800's, other Apexs.
100% fully trailable and it actually improves trailability.
No harsh engagements, backshifting is really nice, engine braking is reduced.
All around the best mod I have done to both of the sleds.

Ulmer Stage II, 40 tooth bottom, Speed Sheave. It pulls about 10,600-10,700 and is very trailable.

Awe come on guys no to say they run Prolines kit. I run one and it really goes from corner to corner. But like John said it is not a real lake drag setup.Just need to run the low engagement spring much nicer setup.
I run an 06 attak stock gearing and 126 on the dream meter so far.
I think no matter what kit you get you will like it.

LOL - Not as much fun as messing with a perfectly good clutch setup for trail riding.
