rode this weekend 250 miles when over 35 degrees. sled would backfire after coming out of a long straightaway. could this be related to hi temp, or exhaust leak/too much unburned gas? 2008 apex ltx, 2500 miles

Sounds like exhaust donuts check them ASAP or you will end up replacing the pipes

Could be the donuts. It would not hurt to check them. Also, maybe one of the clamps is not tight. Sometimes you have to relieve the metal between the two clamp halves to get a good fit. While you are in there, inspect the flex-pipe and Y-pipes for cracks.
Other than the backfire, everything else seems fine?

everything ran great, just a few flames out the tailpipe.

The only reason I hesitate on the exhaust donuts is your's is an '08 with only 2500 miles. But, the symptoms point toward an exhaust leak, which is very common, or an injector being dirty, not so common. I guess I would try some injector cleaner. Do not over do it. Use it per the instructions. If that does not change the backfiring, then I would go after replacing the exhaust donuts and inspecting all the other pipes, etc.

Actually the same thing happens to me and has done it pretty much since the sled was new. This is a normal thing as far as I can tell and these sleds are mapped very fat from the factory!

thanks, i dont want to rip into things, or take it to the dealer unless i have to. i just figure these things arent designed to run hard & fast at 40-45 degrees
