Has anyone installed the old style (seperate hooks) Apex bars on an RS series sled?
I know the plugs are different and I need to change them but the RS bars Ohm out at 1.6 per side and the Apex are 2.2 per side.
Any Ill effects on the electronics using these bars or will the grips just be hotter due to increased resistance?

Will work fine. You will need a 2-2.5 inch riser to remain stock height.

Last year I had 06 bars on by 05 RX1, and went to 07 bars this summer.

Thanks!
I already have a Powermadd pivot adaptor and a 2" riser for a total of 3.25" over stock.
It felt good while standing at that height last year but I'm also adding an 06 Nytro seat so I'll probably get a 4" to 6" riser for the pivot. 4" would put me at last years height with the new bars and 6" will put me 2" over that. I'll wait until I get the seat on to decide if I want the same height as last year ot a bit higher.

Higher resistance means less current. Less current should mean less heat. Think your going to have to try it though, maybe they don't get as hot but they might get hot enough.

I'm not an electrical engineer but if you have more resistance in the grips would it not mean that they will get hotter resisting the passage of current through them?

At any rate I wear full regular gloves not the lightweight snowcross style, my hands should stay plenty warm.

I'm a little confused about this post. I have a 2006 vectorGT. Can I swich to a Apex hooked bar with out issue? I would just need a riser and different end plug?

Thanks,

PAvector: They will work fine. Last year I used a Rox 2" pivot riser and it was fine. Just cut the ends off the 06 Apex bars and hook up like the 06 Vector GT bars.

It was A warm winter where I ride, probably never got below 5F but bars were fine.

I do use Yamaha leather gloves.

I've changed to 07 bars this year and 07 Nytro seat so I have to go with Rox 5"-7" pivot risers and also a hew RX Mountain throttle cable.

How do I mantain the stock heated grips. I usally have cold hands but I prefer the hooked bars.

I have an '06 bar on my '05 Vector and the grips are not nearly as warm as they were with the stock Vector bars. My Vector setup was wired in series where the newer setup was wired in parallel.

My 05 warrior bars where way to hot anyways, but the 06 bars seem to get just as hot. I had them on and rode in 5 degree temps, and they where fine. Maxdlx

So you have your '06 bars wired in parallel or in series like the originals were?

Series like the original but they don't work worth a crap that way. I'd sure like to get hold of the o7 update kit with the jumper...

I have considered this too but it sounds like it might be easier to just add a 2" riser and add nylon hooks to the current RS bars.
