I've done a search on this and found nothing. What have you guys done to acheive better cornering with studs in a Rtx mono shock?

Shorten your limiter strap 1 hole,put your fox float at 55 psi and 13 mm stabilizer bar.you will see a good difference.

55 psi is way to soft for my riding style. That would brake my wrist's. Have mine set at 75-80 psi and I can't even feel the front suspension. Steering is heavy now, that could be from usi project x ski's with 7.5" studboy shaper bars. Seems like to me the sled has to much body roll. It dous'nt lift the ski in the corner but throws off my balance because of the body roll. I think I might try those 13mm sway bars.

Mount your USI Project X skis in the rear mounting hole. This will make a huge difference in steering ease.

LOL....no offence but this is why your sled rolls and lifts a ski.....you NEED to set the floats to 40-45 MAX(unweighted)....personally i like 35 or so,and they still handle the rough stuff just fine
when i sold my mach and got my rtx,i was shocked how poorly it cornered...but it was at 65 lbs....they come from factory setting high and tall....after MUCH testing,on groomed twisty trails...we all found that the A arms need to be set LEVEL with ground,this is where the sled becomes a railing flat sled with near zero ski lift...i was shocked how much better it handled when i got her dailed in.
I then added a 13mm swaybar the next season,which helps,but IMO doesnt help HALF as much as lowering this sled to A arms level.
my setup now is IMO the best handling apex ive ever rode,i can fly thru twistys like no other now...this I guarantee will make you love this sled.
-40lbs unweighted floats( A arms LEVEL/Parallel to ground)
-BRP Pilot 5.7 skis with 6"shaper bars
-13mm sway bar pioneer
-strap tightened one hole from stock
-transfer rod MEDIUM
if i put my floats over 40 lbs in my sled,i cant even ride it....its so funny when you have two apexs side by side,and one setting tall and one level A arms...and swap on the trail,you will feel like two different sleds.
and when its real smooth,i dropped it another inch to 25 lbs....and HOLY CRAP...it was like a slot car/gokart!.....nothing will make this rail better then lowing that HEAVY MOTORs Cent of grav.....dropping the motor every inch makes huge differences in handling on these sleds...I had my motor out this summer,and the crank is one heavy SUM A BITCH!....anytime you can drop something that heavy down close to the ground,you gain handling massively!
here is a pic of how you want the sled to sit....anything taller is no good.

I have to totally agree with ROCKERDAN. My '06 RTX is pretty much stock, except for the Simmons skies, and with the A-arms just about horizontal, and the right setting on the shock, it handles really well.
Where the rest of the suspension is set, I don't know. Steve at Ames Powersports in Ames Iowa set it all up. The guy is a genius with sleds.

My a-arms are level or close to it. The 75-80 psi is with the weight of the sled on them not shure what that would convert to with unweighted. I tried the lower psi (50-55psi) and I bottom the front end out all the time, I can't even hold onto the handle bars when it gets rough at that low setting. I agree with what you say Rockerdan, but most of the trails I ride are rough.

got to get the PSI measurements with the weight off the skis...I bet your real close to where you need to be.
You need body english on the sleds because you sit so high. Not like the old sytle where you just shifted your head.
And of course everyone rides a little different. I have mine level or tad below with me off. Wife likes hers a little above level and she can keep up just fine.

there is no way to bottom out the floats at anything over 30lbs....the way they are made it just wont allow for it,i know it FEELS like its bottoming but they just get stiff as hell when compressed....
set your sled just like my pic above...it works well in rough too...personally i ditch those skis,i find the pilots best of all of rode.
how bout trans rod?....limiter strap?...
13mm helps too....pioneer has em.

I'll have to check where i'm at with them.Steering is real heavy. When the kids go down for a nap I'll check the straps and transfer rod.

Forgot to mention I got the 13mm bar, and Slydogs on it.
I believe my strap is pulled down one, from the dealer. Not real sure though. I do still get inside ski lift but its managable. I guess I have always been used to it from other sles. I can go around the corners on one ski just fine It lifts a few inches but rarely feels like Im going over.
Only one time I recall in 2300 miles where I felt I hit the shocks hard. That was after I launched it unexpectadly and landed funny. I felt the shocks hit hard. Other than that Im constantly beating on this machine and never had an issue.
The first day I put the 13mm bar on I raised it back up. I took it a few miles and was lowering it back down.

You may be hitting the belly pan ont he ground before you bottom the shocks out.
Running them level is the only way to go!!!! Shorten the limiter strap, set the transfer so you get about 6-8 inches of ski lift for a full throttle launch, and you will have a great all around setup. IMO, I like a little bit of ski lift to help get over obsticles on the trail. I ride ditches alot, and it really helps acceleration, as well as getting over those little waterways and bumps in the ditches.
