Freddie at ECP have made close to 200 HP with a NA RX-1 on his inertia dyno. He know how to make a 4 stroke 1Liter engine make HP.

200 h.p. on Dyno isn't neccesarily real world performance
I'm sure he is incredible at what he does , just from what I've read but dyno horse isn't consistent riding, real world power you'll see ! I've made big numbers with SBC before and in all actuality to keep them consistent in street form you loose 10% ! I would how ever be really interested in a Cam, head job with some quality porting of both intake and heads and new EFI controller .
Example: Cams, valves, springs, fuel controller/or bigger injectors, porting heads & intake, a pipe to specifically match the upgrades. package deal $3000.00 installed and make a reliable 190 h.p. or more ?
>>>
This would be a package I think people would actually buy, I would ! Have a piston upgrade as an option for comp ^ around 13 to 1 or 13.5 to 1 and premium gas as the fuel for around 200h.p. compresion makes power (that's what boost does ^ compression) and the porting is a huge benefit on high rpm engines , if done by someone who has experience and is good at what they do ! Maybe ECP will make a kit similar to this , 3000.00 for close to 200 h.p. with no other worries about boost, or leaks or any of the little things that go with turbo's and superchargers. Just turn the key and go. I think a dependable 190 h.p with comp. increase is realistic .
Anyone know anything about the 1072 big bore coming out this season by MPI ? I bet that will be in the 200 h.p. range .

HERE'S some info you can use to make your judgements, this was an email to me from Fundy power sports reguarding motor mods and a Big Block option. The prices you see are in Canadian Funds ! So multiply that by .85 for the US amount. He also said with the higher compression on the BB it would make a bit more power, maybe 210 ish and the torque ...well that would be incredible 110 ft. lbs. , so here's the email :
>>>
Hi Michael, our 1108 B/B does use the EFI on the Apex (we are working on a new manifold to get the HP equal to the carb version.) which I included in the price but you would be looking at closer to $6000 full built, Dynoed and with clutching and fuel controller.
Yes we can increase the compression for a little more, especially if you only ride at altitude.
Once our new manifold is complete, our 175HP Apex package should be in the 180+ range.
Total cost for this package is:
Cams $1250
Porting $1050
Gskts $50
Labour $550
Dyno $200
Total: $3100
Clutching for this package is $317.90
Our Vector package is:
Cams $1250
Porting & machining $950
Gskts $50
Labour $500
Dyno $200
Total: $2950
Yes it was a sled engine, sorry about that. That was an old test, that's our most popular Turbo trail setup now.
Thanks,
Ray

So now I'm curious to see what others have up there sleaves, MPI and ECP in particular , this summer will produce some great things know doubt! I think with a comp. of 13:5:1 on the trail apex kit you'd be close to 190 h.p. , especially with free flowing exhaust and good intake system, ram air, or K&N's . Just my thoughts

thx for the info
That's cool but it says for an RX-1 not the Apex and doesn't give any other info. Sweden is a long way away so that's another stumbling block...... but it shows potential for us wanting NA and 200 h.p. PLUS . If I could get 215 or 220 NA h.p. on a 50/50 mix of 100LL and 87 = 93.5 octane that costs around 4500.00 US built I'd be all over it. This assuming it was dependable and the longevity was there as well. No hassles with turbo problems or supercharger problems and 215 or 220 is enough for most of us that don't race. Fundy power sports is close with there "big block" option but if I'm spending 5000.00 built it better be puttin out atleast 215 preferr 220 h.p. I think it would have to or people will just go with the bondocker turbo kit and have it installed and have more power for about the same price and learn to deal with the issue's associated with Turbo's ................. Just my .02

WOW, now that's a big difference....LOL. THX Ray for all this info and taking the time to share it. I'm sure this will bring you some busines sooner or later......... Now was the 6000.00 price for the complete dyno'd BB option in Canadian funds ? If you can get to the 220 h.p. mark for 5,500.00 US complete package deal then you'd be lookin real perspective for alot more people I think.
NA 220 h.p. that's dependable and know worries with leaking intakes or boots. just turn the key and go....WOW. That would be great ! At least for alot of guys who don't run high elevations it would, if your running much more than 6000' then boost will obviously shine. THX again Ray keep us posted.
