Apex cam gear slotting

When adding a head shim is it necessary to slot out the cam gear and how much to slot out

Yes you adjust the cam timing for the extra thickness. I wasn't aware of any slotting needed I thought there was enough factory adjustment but I didn't do it myself. @Srxspec did both of mine.
