Hey everyone. I had a great year racing my turbo rx1 with 3 wins and a second place. It’s time to go faster. It’s currently a stock engine with a head shim running a garret 2560 at 20# and the turbo is maxed out. I’m looking at putting in forged rods and some forged low compression pistons and swapping to a gt2871. My question is. How much power can I put out of this thing with the stock ignition and the forged internals and head studs? running c16. Thank in advance.

You can push that set up to 500hp, after that you will oval the block. That is my stopping point on my built motor too. You will need a much larger turbo though to get there.

Roughly about 25lbs of boost on C16

What size turbo do you recommend? I was looking at a billet wheel ball bearing gt2871 that says it’s good for up to 550hp. I would like to keep spool time down as well since the sled sees 1,000’ radar runs along with 660’ ice drags. Would a gt3076 be a better option?

No chance it will make 550, maybe 450 reliably, anything above that it will blow hot air. It would however be good for spool up and that type of racing you want to do. If you get to a 30 series it will be laggy and probably not what you want.

Fair enough. If I do go up to the 3076. Do you think the t25 flange will be a choke point as well? Like I would need to bump up to a t3?
