Well i know off the top of my head what i need to run in my SRX for 500 feet
This new apex has me thinking about owning it all the time and i would like to know what everybody is putting in their Apex for 500 feet as far as gearing and clutching.
If possible please let me know what helix angles, springs and if possible, a yamaha clutch weight to run for 500 feet if yamaha has a good short drag weight for 500 feet.
for example the srx works great in 500 with the yamaha 8BU-00 weight.
please feel free to list after market kits and names. and also gearing

Depending on what track you are running will determine the gearing as traction is a must when gearing down!! We've been tinkering with a Apex RTX setup with a 1" Hacksaw track and 192 studs all summer long! Using our Super Tip clutch kit allows alot of adjustment areas for different track conditions.

It would be the mtn apex with stock track. Would want to snow drag it for 500 feet. ( would be racing other mtn sleds in the 600cc class. i think thats the class the apex goes in.)
Starting line would be a few cut in half tracks nailed into the snow
The super tips are new to me. They would be aggressive enough for 500 feet?
not sure on the helix or gearing yet

Ryan,
Thanks. I cant wait for your results
Yes a 500 foot set-up would be great to know so i can write down the gearing, amount of weight in the super tips, primary spring to use (shims if any), and secondary set-up.
I would be about 185 LB rider with all my gear on.
Im assuming the apex is dominating the 600 class now or doing very well in it.

does this thing have 9 tooth drivers from the factory? What is the stock gearing? I know mry SRX needs to run at 8500 RPM's but dont know where the apex needs to run at.
I think it has extroverts from the factory as well. I hear some complain about the weight but wouldnt you think that a 162X16X2.25 track would spread that weight out all over the place? Im beginning to think this is the best MTN sled yamaha has made. Has to be the best looking sled on the hills!!
I dont think theres anything wrong with getting all this info even a year or so before i buy the sled. When i bought my 02 srx back in 01, I really wish i knew back than what i know now about it and what to run for races.

Tom the drivers I believe are 7t they have a 3" pitch so they are about a 1" larger than a regular 2.52" 8t driver so I am told.
I was looking at the specs and it has 20-40gearing it make's paek hp @10,900rpm's.With that rpm 19-42 should be pretty close.I'm going to run stock gearing beacuse I won't be running sactioned races just for fun on the lakes.

So Ryan,
Nospro told me to use stock clutching from a trail sled becuase they work really good right from the factory. He said he really couldn't tell the difference with the super tips but runs the super tips for the NOS; which leads me to my next question.
You gave RTX/Attak clutch set-up in it right now which is a 51/43 helix and 8FP weights with all 3 holes filled with 4.5 gram rivets? Thats what it calls for on a trail sled.

nope stock secondary I have apex/attack weights with 5.5gram's in the tip.
A mtn sled it tottaly different than an attack there's a lot more track there.
