I'm having trouble with my 2009 Apex MTX. It was a totalled sled that I put a new subframe and engine in. We put it all together and it started and ran excellent. Took it outside the shop and drove it a few miles around the yard just to make sure it was working well. After sitting outside for a little while we went to start it again. The sled then wouldn't start and would only crank over. Now the sled won't start, displays code er-1 and the fuel pump solenoid clicks constantly. Every once and awhile the fuel pump solenoid will quit clicking and run fine. If cranked over long enough the sled wire fire and run perfect for a few seconds then shut off again. Put the sled back in the heated shop over night and is still displaying the same issues. We tried swapping the speed sensor out for another it made no difference. Any help would be appreciated.

that's usually an ecm error code, check to make sure connectors are pushed in all the way and check grounds

er 1 condition open or short in blue/yellow wire, malfuntion in digital guage or malfuntion in ecu, taken from my service manual

Don't have to worry about the gauge as sled runs without gauge pod, unless you try running it with the pod disconnected.

Fault Diagnostic
Code No. Symptom Probable cause of malfunction code
Er-1 No signal are received from the ECU. • Open or short circuit in wiring harness. 07
• Malfunction in meter.
• Malfunction in ECU.
• Defective wire connection of the ECU coupler

Well I went through and checked the entire wiring harness for wear spots as well as took every connection apart. I then cleaned every connection and filled them with dielectric grease. All that I've seemed to accomplish is now the fuel pump solenoid clicks faster

Have you checked the voltage at the fuel pump relay, mine did that when the battery was low. But never had the ER-1 code.

I had a similar issue on my apex several years ago and it was a bad wire in the harness to fuel pump relay, wire had green rot and high resistence, still showed over 12 vts on the meter but not enough current to light a test light though, it was the wire that started in the starter relay brown/red i think.'
also try wiggling the harness gently while turning the key

I'm wondering if the fuel pump is seized which is drawing high current causing the relay to chatter.

It will still chatter when a test light is plugged into it. It will work sometimes for a few seconds then start chattering again. Felt the ECU while it was doing it and it was very very warm in one corner
