Apex GT is the same as RTX, almost

The GT is basically the RTX with better shocks. It's also 6 pounds heavier. The GT is only $300 more at my dealer and he says if you want to add the electronically adjustable shock, it'd be more than $1100. If any of you are wondering which to get like I was, go for the GT, much better value. Even though it's supposed to be for groomed trail, it's almost exactly the same as the RTX, except for the differences I already mentioned. :yam:

Oh! You mean to tell me that the Ohlins shock isn't better than the standard skid shock? Maybe I have been miss informed!

well if youre going to use this rationale, the Apex GT is basically an ER with better shocks. Of course thats the difference, did you expect a whole different sled?

Actually there is several differences..

There is no tunnel adjuster on the GT..

The GT only comes in Black and chrome..

all other Apex's can upgrade to GT shocks at a later time..

An RTX has Fox floats on the front, but standard Apex rear suspension.. and only comes in black and red..

I beleieve the GT shocks to be better becuase even if the front shocks on the Gt blow out they wont crash to the ground, like the FOX floats (they rely on air as a spring) but, i also believe the fox floats to be better for extreme riding and jumping compared to the GYTR shocks as they can be setup more aggressively (by adding up to 150psi of air)

I think they really wont ride too differently, but , im sure the RTX can handle more aggressive bumps compared the GT,,, but, you could also say the GT will ride more smoothly compared to the RTX..

They are setup acording to marketing..

Everyone has their own opinion on shocks, so choose your weapon and change later if needed. I was told by a few that the dial adjuster has a broader range than the electronic controlled one.

You might be right!

But you dont have to bend over to adjust them on the gt.. LOL

Either way you will have a great sled ,, pick one and be happy!!

I like being able to adjust compression and rebound on the front shocks more than i am happy about being able to adjust the rear shock with the handlbars..

On the float shocks you can only adjust the amount of air in them,, and at the same time it adjusts the ride hight..

I like the ease of adjustabillity with the shocks on the GT. How many times do you go out full of energy and by the end of a bad day you wish that adjustment was easy? If you have the RTX, it will take a bit more to adjust the fronts. But once you do it a time or two, you'll have the front pressures down pat.

My dealer said he doughts you will be able to get an electronic shock this year because they were so limited built.

The front shocks on the RTX are worth more then the front GYTR shocks found on GT and are built for a different purpose. The rear shock on the Apex ER and RTX have manual adjustments for rebound where the GT has rebound and compression adjustments electronically.

The re-bound is not electronically on the GT, there is a dial on the shock to adjust the re-bound, only compression is electronic. I would not say the floats are better, because with the right valving and springs on the GYTR's would make themas good as the floats or better. If they were that great how come all of the 440's are not using them. Only cat's use them on their 440's and f series sleds..... I believe it's more of a marketing hype then anything. I have not read anything either that can prove they are better....

You may be right on the manual rebound adjustment for the GT, I was not sure and assumed, but It does have more adjustments. I never really fiddled with it on our demo rides.
The jury is still out on the front fox shocks, but to be honest I don’t mind the standard front shocks on my RX-1 which seem to last forever. Getting the RTX was more of a colour and styling thing for me. The Fox floats have good anti bottoming qualities that other shocks don’t have. I’m still not sold on them till I see the durability, but I would prefer to have that type of shock for the rear skid. The Fox Floats are just starting to get popular and are well known in the race circuit. Other then that, the 3 pound weight savings with Floats is not important to me....We shall see..
