I have two dealers givign me great deals on 06 attagt or a 06 apex gt...... I'm torn as the attack is heavier and the longer track will make it hard to corner. How much of a lead sled are these... The attack is 575 dry. How are these two sleds to ride on the trail? Are they super nose heavy (once one ski is off the trailer you are done?) I assume like all the yami, sleds dual or tripple carbides are a must.

A friend and I both bought the 136" 04 Warriors and then got rid of them for a 06 RTX and 06 GT,both 121" tracks.
The Warriors were too long for us in tight trails and hard to turn corners at high speed trying to keep pace with the revs.
To me it was like trying to drive a stretch limo in the city vs a Ski-doo rev sled zippin around the corners like a Miata.
Simmons skis on the Warrior didn`t help the cornering but on the straights you could attain incredible speeds nobody wanted to match.

Tight trails go short track.
Straight trails(like Ontario,Canada) and some off trail riding go Attak.

Yes I know the new Attak is lighter than the old Warriors.
Ad some gas and ice buildup and the sled is still too heavy.

Woodys Doolys on my Warrior almost sent me over the bars when I tried to cross RR tracks as the angle on the front of the bar is not the best for hitting tracks straight on at very slow speed. :o|
Just my opinion.

My take on this is I'm wondering wy they still make 121" sleds. I can go through the tight twisties just as good on the Attak as I can on the RTX or Gt. Plus The Attak feels alot more stable at high speeds. It spans the bumps better then the shorter track, I remember back in the early 90's I thought about buying a longer track sled and I was told don't do it because they won't turn in the trails. Well after I rode one in the tight twisties I was sold. When it comes down to it you will need to decide, You should try one first if you have the chance. Everybody has thier own opinion on this and there is no right or wrong answer. Its all personal preference.

I love my Attak, haven't ridden an Apex. My other sled is 121" Doo REV, I prefer the longer track Attak. Great hookup, smoother and more controlled on the trails, turns the same.

My preference is the long track. Ride is superior to the short track. Side by side, the long track out accelerates the shortie, and gives nothing up in top speed. The Attak is nothing like the Warrior. They dont push at all anymore. I was a short track holdout for a long time. Till the four-strokes came out and my back and neck started going bad. I'll never own a 121 sled again. That is my two cents. Others will tell you just the opposite

I'd love to but we have zero snow and lots of mud :o|

I rode my rx1 as a 121" for the first year then I switched it to a 136",I will never own a 121" again.

Slap some aggressive skis on and the tighter and twistier the trails ther better.

I ran the powder pros on the 121 also but going to 136 I lost nothing but gained ride, traction and cornering speed.Top speed on GPS is exactly the same with 136 as 121.

There was not Attak GT on 2006, only the Apex.

I bought an attak in 06 because the apex felt to tippy and i thought the attak was the way to go,i was wrong, for my type of riding apex rtx all the way,i even made my attak to a shortie, and anyone trying to sell ya on the longer track soaking up the bumps better is dead wrong, mine now rides much better and now it dont push,as it did in the 136 form, speed wise they are about 2-5 mph of each other, some attaks are almost as fast as the 121's but in general they are a little slower up top,and they do hook up preety good but the fun factor of the shortie doing wheelies over bumps is a real plus,i could not get my attak to corner and still pull the skis up,anywhere near what the 121 does, yes the 121 does feel a little tippier but this is due to the suspension working quicker than the stretched out 136,the 136 does go good over the 1-2 foot stutters as long as you go straight.

yea sorry typo atleast you guys got what i mean lol

Also when you say tippy how tippy are we talking. I'm coming off a saber cat and that sled is always on one ski. It takes a while to get used to balancing on one ski, but once the inner ski goes up you can hold the corner

Not as tippy as the sabercat but close, and it will stay planted alot like the zr or sabercat does on one ski,but you can get alot of that worked out, with adjustments too,so not to worrie,i have had a few cats zrts zr's and cougars all with the aws3 front ends and the apex handles alot like them except it rails alot like the 94 zr580!!

My buddy has an Attack. I have the Apex ER. To me ,there is a noticable difference in cornering. The Attack will push a bit more. Also, when unloading from my inline trailer to pull the sleds into a garage, you can clearly see when turning both sleds hard one way at low speeds, the Apex will turn inside of the Attack radius by about 4 feet. Just my opinion, but my friend pointed this out to me, I did not notice it a first.

I have the GT and love it, I did want the Attak got a deal on a Apex GT and love it, yet I hope to pick an attak up next year. I have heard much more praise than complaint about the 136.

Both are good sleds and you will not be disapointed. I think the difference is minor to moderate in regards to top end or push. Regarding the ride, people can say what ever they want but the physics and engineering favor longer wheel base is always smoother. THis from a guy who has and likes his 121

Yamadoo

I went from a 136 to a 121 this year..

136 track better in strait lines and do not wander like the 121

But the 121s handle WAY BETTER..

I wont be buying a longer tracked sled any time soon..
