does anyone think with the gear change that top end speed will be less than the rx1?

It will not be less than an RX. I know because I couldn't beat the Apex any way you could put it, low end, top end, and everywhere inbetween. The rider of the Apex was heavier than me as well.

On the hardpack lake that day in Feb we were hitting 124-126 on the speedo and it was not topped out, still climbing. Note that that the speedo is supposedly much more accurate for 06.

I'll have my GPS mounted and if the lakes are in good shape Christmas/New Years week I'll be able to tell you more :D

I wish it was true tork, but at least the test protos we tested, the speedos were off the same as any other rx1 12-15 mph gps tested,i did not forget my gps when i tested both attak and apex in northern Maine last april 3-4 Sorry to disapoint, unless yammi changes the pick up gear, they are the same and the rep that was there stated they have no intention of changing it either :ORC

My brother Stomped the RTX with his RX-1. I ran side by Side with a RTX for a long distance. Most of you know I rode a self made 03 warrior with an expert X. I had some Motor alignment issues when I ran him so I know I wasn't 100%. He also had no studs in the RTX.

I truly believe the Apex will beat a setup RX-1 if the Apex is also dialed in. Like I said my brothers sled which we got dialed in real good handed it to the Apex every time. Studs would have helped the Apex but he wouldn't have beat him.

jtssrx, If you take a stock RX-1 and stock Apex out of the crate, I believe the stock Apex should pretty much kill it or you are going to have alot of un-happy people. The Apex is supposed to be 3-5 mph faster on top end and 5-6 sled lengths out of the hole. That's a big difference. Running against a sled with out studs and one that is studded is like running a vehicle with lawnmower tires against a vehicle with the tries they come with. You will just spin all the way.... Not a fair comparison.... So for you to say to ran side by side is not that impressive...... and a truly wrong comparison.

Rotax: I agree stock for stock the Apex will win. However the Sled impalapower ran against was the same sled my brother handed it to.

I was impressed that the Apex stayed side by side with my sled without studs. We went from a 20 mph roll and ran them to over 100 mph and he was right there. I think that's impressive. Like I said my sled was less then 100% dialed in with the motor needing to be realigned. I was burning up my belt it was so bad. If he ran my brothers sled on the same roll he would have been killed just like he was from a stand still. We really had my brothers sled working well at the end of the season. Early in the season before my motor shifted I could beat my brother so I know I would have beat the RTX to had I been dialed. However the RTX was bone stock. Racing against a dialed in sled with studs isn't a winning proposition for a stocker.

Just like I said in the first post however if that RTX was dialed in like my brothers the RTX would have beat my brother and me even if My sled was right. You can't deny the extra 13 hp the Apex is making. Plus the addition of Clutching, gearing, and filters like my brother had is only going to make the apex better.

Ultimatly the Apex is going to be much faster then the RX-1. It's still going to need some tuning to make that happen!!!

JT, that was an icy road and I was spinning the entire time....ask NOSPro how hard they run. We ran on hard pack all leaving at the same time and there was no RX1 that could run with the Apex. Traction is everything.

Stomped...LMAO, you guys base results on one race....ROTFLMAO

Terry NOSPro, Impalapower and the guys we rode in the UP have a more accurate idea of the speed of that machine..... we played for a for quite sometime.

There wasn't any RX1 without a turbo or nitrous, or any other sled that could hang with the RTX! PERIOD!!!!!!!!

JT, That road was icy as F%^&! And there were no pics in that RTX!

I knew this would come out wrong.

EVERYBODY - The new APEX models are awesome on top end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A highly tuned RX-1 will beat a bone stock Apex period. If you dial in an Apex to the same level as the RX-1 with Equal traction the Apex will win.

Do either of you think John and I would have sold our RX-1's for Attacks if we didn't think we could make them run better then the RX-1'
s did??? Of course not.

I'm not saying the Apex is slower then the RX-1 but just because Terry and Impalapower got beat on a snow covered lake by a non studded Apex doesn't mean it would run well against a RX-1 setup to run on Icy roads even if it was studded.

For the Record I could never get my RX-1 to run ore then 114 MPH in deep snow conditions on a lake or a trail. However on a Icy road I could get my RX-1 to hit 137 mph and then 130 mph when I geared it down.

I know for a fact a Unstudded sled that makes more power will out MPH a Studded sled in deep snow conditions going across a lake. That's not drag racing. If you want to cry about Picks then at least acknowledge that fact that an unstudded sled will pull more MPH then a Studded sled will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deep snow or not, the non-studded sled will top out better than a studded sled, unless you are racing on a ice rink. But on a good hard cover ground, from 0 - 100, the non-studded sled will not have much of a chance.

My point was the Apex seemed tons faster in the deeper snow they were running in becuase it was unstudded.

Jason, How would you know, you never rode the sled??? Ya thats right but you have this special insite...so you KNOW IT ALL....LOL

Sorry if this gets off topic but I would only judge this sled after you have driven one....not an educated guess.

Deep snow...LMAO, it was a hard pack lake with some wind blown snow in spots...

I am really starting to loose faith in your judgement my friend...LOL

I would like to clarify something

Number one: I was under the impression the RTX that was run against NOS_PRO and Impalapower was in deep snow. I was wrong my bad.

Number 2: I used the phrase "every time" when talking about the RTX racing my brother. That implies that they ran multiple times. In fact they only raced once.

Number 3: I did run it from a roll once and did stay side by side with it.

Number 4: I am of the opinion that the APEX will be much quicker and faster then a Modded RX-1. I just think from what I witnessed with my eyes a stocker can be beat by a setup RX-1. You can't deny the Power the Apex motor is making. In the right hands it should be a hand full for any trail sled out there.

My apologies to MR Sled for being misleading in my posts.
