That lost 2 mph could be the new snowtrackers,as they are much more aggressive than 4" stock carbides, and I bet if you add studs you will slow down some more, when I first got my 07 rtx it had 400 miles sense it was a demo,so I was not scared to hold it wfo for a miles on same rr bed type trail and no studs and stock 4" carbides 112 gps, never after I installed 6" aggressive carbides and 144 studs did it do 112 gps on trail again.Cummins6.7pwr said:Last march I bought a left over '11 XTX. I took it to the U.P. and it ran 116 on GPS. This was on hardpack, groomed, old railroad bed trail. At the time the sled had 230 miles on it. This year the conditions were the same but a lot COLDER outside. It ran 114 on GPS but with all the deer up there this year I didn't push it too far. Sled is bone stock under the hood with no studs and has 2400 miles on it now. Last year had factory 4" carbides (JUNK) and this year went with aggressive snowtrackers. The speedo is only off 3-4 mph on mine. Hope this helps!

I can break into the 100's without trying to hard. On those old railroad beds in the U.P. I can just cruise at 85-90 mph with the fun flipper not even to the bars. Maybe I just got a good one!

My 11 hit 107 on the GPS on a hard pack trail. With the size of me on its back I'm impressed. Its kinda like flying a garage door down the trail.

2011 Apex XTX
I can tell you with 100% certainty that last year in Val D'or on the rail bed I hit 191kms per hour with my trusty Garmin GPS60csx and its never lied to date. Just a stock XTX studded up the middle with 6000kms on it. I love the sled and feel sorry for a few friends that switched from the Apex this year to the new Viper's as both guys have spent Feb without their sleds as they are still in the shop with rev limiter and chain case issues....
By the way 191km/hr is 119 mph and the 3 other guys dropped their jaw when they saw the GPS.....
That's why I drive Yamaha because I point and shoot and never look back.

Re: 2011 Apex XTX
I just got off the phone with one of my old Yamaha dealers up in caribou maine, and john told me several times this year on hard pack rr bed,gps 114 speedo 117 that's impressive for a 144 hell that impressive for a 121 or 128,he also said he installed a set of the new for 15 skid dampers for a demo sled, but did not get a chance to test it,as people were lining up to test it,and it was on a vector not an apex, but they say by next dec. apex models will have it on them from snowcheck. he also said the 14 and 15 144 apex comes with the DuPont slides, that if you bought from there acc. book are 65 bucks per side, well now if I can get a 144 apex to run 119 gps,i will be so frekken happy I may crap my pants, heck I have not even had my 13 turbo past 115 gps.kanadacat said:I can tell you with 100% certainty that last year in Val D'or on the rail bed I hit 191kms per hour with my trusty Garmin GPS60csx and its never lied to date. Re: 2011 Apex XTX
What year is your xtx is it a 14 or 13,and just studded up the middle is it two per bar for a total 114 total, man that don't seem like enough, but my old dealer swears that is all they stud there xtx apex at,unless the owner demands more, and it appears as it is enough,i just cant seem to believe this sled can run that fast on gps,now I am not saying I don't believe you,but I have had a lot of semi stock apex sleds and none of them have past 112 gps on hard pack snow, studded or not,man could it be,i may get a good one finally lol,hey happy trails,as we still have great riding here in maine, although I am out of the game for this year, but I can now dream about the sled I can get for next winter,oh well,my 4-wheeler is ready to go!!kanadacat said:I can tell you with 100% certainty that last year in Val D'or on the rail bed I hit 191kms per hour with my trusty Garmin GPS60csx and its never lied to date. Well,i did end up getting the 2015 xtx,man I love this sled,I now have 1100 wonderful miles on her,and have done nothing but dump premium gas and go,have not even looked at the belts deflection yet,and it last weekend ran finally 109 gps or 113 speedo down our local RR bed, fairly hard on the outsides but tore up in the middle, and just at dusk,so once groomed in the early morning runs,i bet it will break 110 maybe 112 like some of my shorties have, still all stock,no studs, but next week,i plan on swapping out the tuner skis for my ols set of 5.7 pilots w/6" shapers and 4" doo stock carbides, and throwing in my set of HC DFW,i have,to see if I can get into the power quicker,as DFW jump right to 10,800 where it makes best power, but my gas milage may struggle some once done,i kinda like the 14-17 mpg I now get.I have no studs.
