Apex ID plate missing

I would think that from the inside of the tunnel you could see it. The stamp should come through enough to verify.
I can't see anything from behind, but I have leaky heat exchangers so I'll likely have them off to see underneath soon.

The other possibility is if someone installed a new tunnel and didn't stamp it. It was possible, and did happen that vintage to a few without studs backing out of trailer and backing over snowflap and pulling the tunnel under enough to kink it. I did have Yamaha help out sending a new tunnel for one customer, but we always restamped the numbers into tunnel. Of course, there is the obvious, just having smashed in the rear end and replacing! Servicing sleds, I wish anyone installing these type of tunnel braces would restamp the number into brace, so I could more efficiently document the numbers on work order or run thru Yamaha for recalls and such... There is technically a way to run engine numbers through Yamaha to see what frame it should be in...

Generally the engraved stamps are only embedded into the tunnel about .010"-.015", so doubtful you could make out the digits on the backside.
On my 11 Ape, the VIN is laser etched in the tunnel.

Ya when the poster replied he didn't see it on the inside, I wondered if a stamp would show through soft aluminum. On steel you can see the indentation on the other side of thin steel.
