I have been lurking for a while. Reading posts and running searches to determine the best way to upgrade my new 07 apex mountain se. I have decided to to the following mods.
Boondocker turbo with GT25 turbo
Boondocker NOS with the new synergy system
New Drivers
Ceramic coating on the turbo, header and exaust pipe
AF gauge
Boost Gauge
Parker Knock box
Clutching and adjustable Helix
I am not planning to head shim or do low comp pistons this year. I have good access to race fuel and will run it as required depending on the boost that I run. It seems to me from what I have heard a head shim is a trade off. You can run more boost but you loose HP from the head shim. (please correct me if I am wrong)
I have been thinking about a drop and roll on the chain case. The Van Amburg brackets. However the labor is supposed to be fairly extensive for that and I dont know if it worth the money. How imprtant is that on this sled? Also I have reverse in it. Can you do the drop and roll with the reverse or is that a bad idea?
Is there anything that is important that I am missing?

Can you keep your reverse with the Boondockers kit? The way the header comes out I question if the lickage for the reverse will be in the way.

Boondocker turbo kit
Well I'll give the boondocker gt25 kit a thumbs up. One thing is I would buy the bigger turbo right off the bat. Don't even mess with the little guy. I'll probably get flamed for this, but the boost guage is not totally needed with the boondocker kit. I use the box to tune with, the guage will only save me if something fails (ie boost controller), and the guage happens to not be completely covered in snow(definately not the case this year). I've got 15lbs on my gt25, and the injectors are almost maxed. It's goddarn fast! With some clutching, the boost comes on smoothly but almost instantly. the "lag" is nonexistent. it runs just like a 2 stroker other than you need to keep alittle throttle on when slowing down, can't just chop it like a 2 stroke. Kinda slowly back out of it.

I would get the bigger turbo, won,t hurt anything if you don,t use the extra boost, but its there when you want it and you will want it.

I selected the Boondocker because I wanted a front mount. I thought about the Alpine kit. I have heard that it a great setup. However I dont like that you have to move the entire gauge pod to the bars and it seems very invasive. The boondocker seem to be a good solution if you take care to deal with the underhood heat.
I concidered the 28 turbo. I have a couple of reasons that I thought that the 25 would be better for me.
1. I have heard the the 25 spools faster.
2. You can turn the 25 down lower. If I am out for a multi day trip and I run out or race fuel I can turn the boost down to 7ish lbs and run on pump gas with the 25. I dont think that you can do that with the 28.
However if you guys have input it would be great. I know you have been through this before and have a lot of knowledge as to what works well. Thanks in advance!

Better check your wastegate actuator. Mine was set at 10lbs. It doesn't have an adjustment built into it. So 10lbs is as low as I can set it without some modification to the arm. Only real difference that stuck out to me was the fuel tank on the alpine(It's alittle smaller). I wish Alpine would build a tank/seat combo that would hold stock or abit more than stock, say 2 gallons more. That would have definately sold it to me. I could care less about the few lbs more for the extra fuel. I end up packing 5 gal. on the back even with the stock tank. Damn that great snow

you can turn the gt28 down as low as you want its all in the waste gate adjustment, and the spring pressure in the waste gate , same as the gt25, I have had both no difference in spool up time. the gt28r or 2560 has the same hot side as the gt25 just bigger compressor, I would not waste the money on the gt25 when you can get a gt28, and have everything and more that the gt25 has. what elevation are riding at if you are riding at high elevation then for sure get the bigger turbo, it has to spin faster at elevation to maintain the same boost presssure due to the lower air density, about 14lbs is all you will get out of the gt25, you will show more than that on you boost gage but know more performance, its out of its offeciency range and if you run it maxed out for long you will wipe out the bearings, as it has ecxeeded its rpm range trying to maintain the desired boost. I am running a gt2871 now for this reason I want to run 20 + lbs. at 10000 ft.

Thanks for the feedback. I changed my order to the GT28. I am also going to do the head shim. I think that this summer I might to the low comp pistons and new rods. Im also thinking about a new tunnel as part of the next summer project along with some powdercoating. You can burn money quick on one of these.

The point which I was making was that the boondocker module records your max boost and your peak. A boost guage is like I said a saving grace if something is not working/setup correctly (which can happen at any time). The box is like a post run double check while the guage is a constant indication. I have been riding in awesome snow, and I cannot see the guages (boost or A/F) due to snow covering them alot of the time. When I tune I have to find a smooth hill to run at in order to set it up.
