I believe their's another way to do that with a relay. The key on wire is a ground, you can use that signal to trigger a relay. On terminal 86 that would come from the key. 85 and 30 from the battery and 87 would power up the gauge or the sensor. All battery power.

Crazy thing it, I ran the power and ground straight from the battery and it wont work right. It only works correctly if the units is turned on after the sled has started...strange right?

Wow, that is weird. If you read instructions it's operating voltage is 12 to 18 volts which means when you're cranking sled voltage drops below 12 volts. I think the switch sounds like the only way to fix that.

Or actually if you use headlight wire on 85 as trigger on relay it might work for the fact that headlights don't come on until sled starts. 86 goes ground. 30 to battery and 87 to gauge.

Damn thats a great idea... I already installed a switch but I am going to look into that. thanks

LOL... getting harder and harder to get relays with sockets from the Auto Parts stores too..
