Apex oil change

What it is is seasonal maintenance. If you cant spend extra time taking apart the front end just to change the most important piece of equipment that keeps your motor extra clean then i wonder what else people are not doing in their seasonal maintenance.

Its one of the reasons I have never bought used because when i tried and the owners were stating "In great condition and clean". 10 times outta 10 it was terrible. Doing this type of maintenance also prevents other problems from arising as many know.

The people that refuse simple things as changing an oil filter that may take an extra 15mins are the ones that are routinely complaining at the shop about other problems that couldve been prevented with simple maintenance.

Take your machine apart, get used to it. It not only benefits you but it also has given me the cleanest, smoothest running machine that dealerships beg me to trade in

As much of a pain in the HAM as it is I wouldn't do an oil change without changing the filter.
That's like turning your underwear inside out to get a couple more days or sleeping with your cousin - sure it feels good at the time but it's just wrong - LMAO

I have changed my filters every time on my RX1's and Apex. I have to wonder on the Phazer which entails a complete dissassembly to get to it. My wifes sled for instance has 1200 miles on it total over 4 seasons. It has had 3 filters. I think if she dosn't put some significant miles on it, the filter is not going to get changed next time. If the OEM dosn't recommend it, and they are conservative, why go through the hassle.

Yamaha doesnt say "do not" as it recommands oil filter change at a certain milage it not that big a deal to change it once a year. I cant emagine not changing the filter with the oil.

Amen! Seriously the Wix filter(a good filter) is about 7 bucks Canadian at Napa, just change them with every oil change! Cheapest insurance ever!

What is the cost difference between the WIX and Yamaha's filter?

Thanks

Chester

The yammie filter is about twenty bucks at my dealer give or take a little.

OR - for those of us who are mechanically challenged, our dealers are happy to change our oil and filter each year and give the sled the once over.
For me, who would probably do it wrong or break something, it is $70.00 bucks well spent.

$70 seems really cheap. Is that just labor? The Yamaha filter and semi synthetic oil is $50 alone.
