My 07 Apex ER temp light went on during my last ride. It has been idling for about a minute. It there a rear heat exchanger I could install? Does anyone have the part number available?
I remember installing one on my RX and the problem was gone..Thanks

try using a product called WATTER WETTER ive used it on my past 3 sleds and never had a problem with overheating again..

It sounds like the Yamaha one went up in price but I noticed that Pioneer is offering one @ $89.95 which is still reasonable. I am waitting for my delivery but the pictures on the Pioneer site look to be exactly the same as the Yamaha one. You might want to look into it for the price.

From your location you may want to go 60/40, but still it should do the trick. Also make sure you don't have an air pocket in the system. The Apex with a 60/40 mix in 40*+ temps, sorry 8*+ temps should be fine. Mine was. Assuming of coarse your riding on snow and not dirt or grass.

many have had this happen....I did too my first season....I decided to do 3 things....

-Dilute stock mixture to 50/50(minus 34F on tester)
-added REDLINE water wetter
-added a yamaha Rear heat exchanger

Never had the light come on since, and ive run some hot conditions, roads ect....

IMO i would do it all....order yourself the exchanger, and while waiting for it to come in...dilute to 50/50 and add water wetter.DONE!

I've always added the rear cooler, 1 on my 121" '05 RX1 and on my '08 APEX 136" and never overheated, I've runned in some pretty low snow, like road sides for prolonged distance, last year on 1 of the coldest mornings of the season in St-Michel des Saint Quebec it was -37 celcius and on the lake 2 other 4 strokes OVERHEATED due to hard packed crusty cold snow and lack of snow dust and my sled did NOT!

Its well worth the MONEY for that extra cooling plus LESS ICE build-up!!!

I agree....it really is too bad Yammie doesnt put it on standard,as just about everyone I know has seen the hi temp light at least once...for the 60 or 70 bucks, probably best money youll ever spend for peice of mind.

Check the Rich Motorsports section of this website for a sticky thread on this topic.

Funny the '08 Vector 136" all have a rear cooler as std equipement? due maybe to the lack of the smaller rad and fan APEX have by the reverse lever...

overheat

I've read this thread before on overheating. Funny thing is my Apex has never done this. Done alot of other things but never this. Am I lucky or what here? My fan has come on a few times but never the light ever and I've run in some #*$&@ conditions for sure. I wonder what the differeces are between machines?

I ride with 2 other Apex sleds and last year, mine came on in cold conditions, but running on a railway bed.

All we could see as difference is that I am 250 lbs and both other guys are about 160lbs.

Maybe forcing more?

On my 2006 Apex (and also on a 2005 sled) dilute to 55%/45% and add one half bottle of Red Line Water Wetter, never had a light come on again. No need to do the rear cooler IMO
