Hey All,
A gang of four of us are heading out in a couple weeks to do the RAP (Round Algonquin Park) tour in Ontario. Our estimated KMs for the 4day trip is just over 1,000km.
To that end, I want to make sure the sleds are well prepped before we leave to avoid anything going wrong on the trail. To that end, I'm planning on doing the following:
1. Check studs and carbides to make sure they're good to go
2. Check all idlers and idler bearings and replace where needed
3. Grease all zerts on the sled
4. Change hyfax (getting worn, time for a change)
Is there anything else I should look into? Any other bearings or what-not?
Or just stop being paranoid and enjoy our 4 day trek in the snow.
Thanks!
Bill

Grease the pto side jackshaft and driveshaft bearing.
Check chain tension.
And don't forget the upper idlers.
With over 10,000 miles on my '06 Attak, I feel I can go anywhere and still get home. More so than any other brand with alot less miles on them.

For sure the bearings. My lower one was rusty after only 1500 miles.

Ok, I half expect the answer to be "search" but how do I grease pto side and jackshaft bearings? Is this very involved?

definitely check your chaincase lube(id refill with synth) and fill it to STANDARD level.
check chain tension, hand tight then back off 1/4 turn....
the rest is pretty much good to go....i think the only thing ive heard to actually END a trip is chaincases....other stuff can go wrong but usually wont end the ride altogether.
oh yah....if your going during the week, you will have the nice smooth groomed trails,so lower those front A arms till they are LEVEL to ground...for ultimate cornering without ski lift.....
