I gave my sled a long rip down the lake today & my top speed on the speedo was 115 mph which after subtracting the suggested 15mph for speedo accuracy is aprox 100mph real speed. I have read that most Apex guys are seeing 125-128 on the speedo!!
Is my sled slower because of the lower gearing (22t gear), or because of the pro-active skid, or should it even be slower, something wrong with it?
The conditions were snow hard packed, reved out at 1060 rpm.
Please let me know what you think & if there is something I can do to make it as fast as the other models.
Thank you & long live the Apex!!! wuhooooo!!

Well...I have no clue about the rev, usually don't pay attention to mine much. However, I will have to say that that is about as much speed as I have seen out of my 07 rtx. It is the gearing that is slowing us down, however it gives our sleds more usable power down low where it counts on the trails. From what I've read on here (correct me if I'm wrong anyone) there is a gearing between ours and the regular apexes that seems to be the favored sweet spot. I believe the proactive is actually faster than the mono because it has better transfer and both are about the same on the top end.

It could be your belt....when was the last time that was replaced?

Brand new belt. I even have the secondary clutch set so the track creeps when the sled is running at idle on the track stand.

I ran against am RTX today, and was surprized how slow he was. I asked him if he had problems, he didn't know. We both were starting from a roll and with in the first thirty feet,I was by him.Thought it was a vector at first. He really liked his loud pipe though. The loudest Hauck, didn't do much for his bottom line.

Got a best of 119 (dreamometer) last year and would only rev out to about 10.5. Cleaned both clutches greased all skid wheels and drive bearings, replaced rusty lower (clutch side) drive bearing, replaced belt and primary drive spring over summer. This year 123 best so far.

What are you getting on your speedo & or GPS for top end? When you went up against the RTX how long was the race & how far ahead were you? Are you running a 23 or 24 tooth? Maybe my 22 is holding er back??
The best I got today on good hard pack was 117 mph at 10700 rpm's.

I have an 06 RTX as well, It is alot slower than my 06 attak was, I could get 125 mph on the speedo of my attak which was 111 on radar, I thought with the short track I would be faster but this one only goes 115 on speedo and that was on very ideal conditions, 112-113 is more common. what gears should the rtx run to pick up the top end ?? also is anyone seeing top end gains with clutch kits ?? my attak had ulmer stage 2 but it was installed by previous owner so never seen before after style results.

My '06 RTX mono, cr10eks , airbox, minor clutching, 23/38, bests 124 mph wishometer 112 gps, my stretched '08 RTX prior to any mods would see 116 on wishometer with less than 400 miles on it. Still running 22/38 with 136" track but intend to change to 23/38, hope to run lakes with gps either today or tomorrow and will post results.

I had my 07 RTX up to 125 on the DM twice. Both times my clutch side panel decal peeled off. The sled was stock. Nobody is going to believe this but my sled was always faster on top in trail like conditions than my fathers Attak GT. We never ran on ice but I'm sure his would have been faster if we did. My sled always pulled 10,800 RPM, 11,100 when the belt was worn out.

Thanks, I will be interested to see if these sleds need the taller gearing. In the deeper snow the 22 will definately do better, but on hard packed lake run....hmmm. The sled would probably pull the 24 on ice, but anything less than perfect conditions won't let e'r shift out. The 23 should be a nice happy medium, good pull off the line & should shift out relatively well in any kind of snow conditions.

I have a still frame from some helmet video during a full throttle run on the lake. My GT had plugs, Stage 2 Ulmer clutching, windage plates and 144 in the middle. 124 was the max on that run and you see the throttle is WO and I was only revving 10k. GPS said 112. It was not great conditions with patches of snow and glare ice. That sled managed 13x on the dreamo and 118 GPS on different occasion - no helmet video.
