Apex RTX slower??

I have a still frame from some helmet video during a full throttle run on the lake. My GT had plugs, Stage 2 Ulmer clutching, windage plates and 144 in the middle. 124 was the max on that run and you see the throttle is WO and I was only revving 10k. GPS said 112. It was not great conditions with patches of snow and glare ice. That sled managed 13x on the dreamo and 118 GPS on different occasion - no helmet video.

Hmmm, starting to wonder if these sleds are producing more HP at 10,000 rpm rather than 10,500.
You are getting good top end at that low of rpm,s it is worth me looking into.
My sled is now constantly revving 10,700 WO. I am now thinking I should be gearing up to at least a 23t top or even the 24. Don't want to sacrifice to much at the bottom however.

I would tell you from my experience on a 07 RTX like yours going from 10.5 last year and only managing 119 to greasing and cleaning things up to get to 10.8 and 123 that getting the r's up by removing some drag definately helped.

Have you checked your wheels/bearings and cleaned your clutches? Could help.

I replaced all the idler wheels that didn't have replaceable bearings & replaced the bearings on the three (two top & the bottom back middle) that have bearings that could be replaced. Cleaned my clutches as well as changed the speedo side bearing.
I will try again when conditions are better, weather is a little on the mild side right now.

RTX is not slower

A well set up Apex RTX is faster than a GT. An APEX RTX is actually alot lighter than a GT. The 2007-2009 RTX have a 22 tooth sprocket and the GT have a 24 gear. The RTX are quicker from corner to corner stock. You can change the gearing to a 23 or 24 and have more top speed.

most i seen on dreamo was 134mph on a flat 19 mile stretch trail my old apex would get up and go i hope this one does too i just bought!!

The 07RTX and plus years only haved a 22 gear, which is why you are not seeing big top end... The pro-active skid is slower on top end over the mono... The RTX was never designed for top end... Point and shoot corner to corner acceleration.. If you want top end, change to a mono skid or buy a GT....

IMO, the 5 lbs (maybe) lighter in the skid makes ZERO difference in speed and performance. If so, the the Apex would be consistently faster than the attak because it has a smaller lighter skid. Gearing and the suspension geometry certainly makes a difference. The weight of the skid alone tho is not a factor IMO.

RTX

A 2007 RTX weight is 540 lbs and a 2007 apex GT is 557lbs so theRTX is a little lighter. Sorry I forgot the 06 RTX has the mono Suspension. Why Is the monoshock faster the the proaction suspension. Does anyone have facts to back this up?

Happy New Year everyone!

the ck loses track tension as it goes through it's travel so the track needs to be run tighter than the mono. additionally the mono's rails are around two inches shorter than the ck's. this results in more friction between the track and the ck than the mono. the mono is also makes the sled sit closer to the ground than the ck, resulting in a less air resistance for the sled.

My son is 6-4 and weighs 250 lbs..he raced an rtx on my wifes attak..the attak did a wheelie and then smoked the rtx..the rtx was riden by a friend that is 180 lbs.dont know what they did to that attak, but it rocks when it races my S.C....My sled isnt all that much faster.should have put it on the attak..lol...

because the attak has traction....

My 06' rtx has a 23t top and a proline clutch kit. Never had a problem beating my buddies attack. I've seen 132mph on the speedo(no Mods) on the lake. Sled has always been very quick and revs out to 10,800 or so. could prob use a little more weight at the tip to pull it down a little.
