Today I ended up driving a round trip of over 300 miles just to unload my sled and load it back up because it refused to start.

I drove the sled into the back of my truck last night after running it for a while and letting get good and warm. It sat in the back of my truck over night (10* above zero Fahrenheit). I drove to our riding location like I've done before and then nothing.

The sled started right up after cycling the ignition 5 times. The sled ran like normal for about two minutes then it died and refused to run anymore other then short little sputters.

Ideas? Help?!

This may sound dumb, but what you describe is exactly what happens as the sled is running out of gas. It'll run for a bit, and then sputter and will die. I'm wondering if there is a pinched fuel line? Maybe.
What weight oil are you running?

If it is an injected sled check the fuel pump relay , left footwell , listen to hear the pump cycle with the key.Sounds like no fuel.

I've been all over the sled and couldn't find any kinked lines. I was wondering the same thing but this happened after it had been running for a while then pulled into the back of the truck. It wasn't like it was just idling for a second before I parked it.

The fuel pump runs every time that I cycle the key.

Cold start

I had the same problem last year. It was about 0 degree's in the mourning started it up and it ran for about 30 seconds and shut off. Tried starting it again it it just spit and spuddered trying to start. I also thought it was out of gas and checked to make sure the fuel pump was working. I wound up pulling the plugs and it was flooded. Then remembering I had adjusted my co level through the yamaha computer (bumping it up) I put my co level back to 0, dried the plugs with a lighter and the sled started right up. and ran great. Please keep in mind I am running a MPI S/C with the MPI fuel control system. Hope this helps.

I'm running the MPI Stage 1 SC with the MPI control box. I wasn't able to get to my sled last night but I'll pull the plugs tonight and see if that's it. I'm hoping that it's something simple like this.

Are any of you guys running Nitrous? If so who's box/ setup are you using?

i had a prob similar to that and it was my throttle body boots.they had came off where they connect to the engine but not all the way off didn't notice it.it started fine ran pretty good then shut down.tried to fire it back up and all in would do is sputter for a bit then nothing. i have a bov now.

Fixed!

I found that it was a combination of a minor vacuum leak and the plugs were fouled! The sled fired right up after fixing the above.

Thanks for your help guys!!! :rocks:
