I have a 2006 gt, the seat foam feels sacked out. Too plush IMO, feels like you're almost sitting on the tunnel. The cover is torn in a few spots from my boots or pants rubbing on it. So I have the option of getting a new seat or having my local guy work on it.
Question at hand is I've read previously that the RTX seats use a different (stiffer) density foam? Maybe I was seeing things. Can anyone shed some light on this? I like the WRP seats but don't need the 2" rise as I'm a little shorter than most and like the stock ride height. Just looking for a stiffer seat. Does the year of the RTX matter?

My 07 RTX seat was stiffer than our 06 RTX. I think 07-09 RTX have the stiffer seats

Cool beans, any other inputs appreciated

The 07-09 RTX is much more firm. Because of this, you actually sit taller on the machine. I preferred this seat over the seat that came on my Dad's 2007 Attak GT.

The seat with the stripe in the middle of the seat is the softy. I too had a GT and HATED it. The MTX version all had the firmer ones. I swapped for a MTX one and its 100% better for me. I think the RTX and MTX are the same density foam. You will love the firmer one, its counter intuitive but from what you said about the low rider feeling of the softy the MTX seat fixes all of that.

Stripe of seat is not true indication. I once thought this too.

06-07 RS Nytro, and 07-09 Apex RTX seats are the firmer seats. Not all MTX seats are firm either. I had an 06 mtx and it was a softy.

On top all seats use the same foam, so pressing on the top of seat will feel same between a firmer seat and softy.

The difference is in the base of the seat. The firmer seats have styrofoam directly on top of the seat pan, while a softy seat will be mushy foam all the way through.

Only true way to know if it's a "firm" seat is to look in the open windows on bottom of pan and see if it has yellowish squishy foam or white styrofoam.

The firmer seats are not actually firmer.....they just have less squish due to not being 100% soft foam.

So how big is the styrofoam piece?L x W x Thickness. If I cut that much out then I will have the firmer seat correct?

one more item to add to the money pit. Thanks guys
