Is a roller plate worth running on a Apex secondary? Is it a straight bolt on or does something on the secondary have to be modified? Can any helix still be ran? Any good links? RR

Okie dokie then. I have used the Advant-edge roller since 1999. The newest version is a straight bolt on & uses only their helix,s. You won,t get any better top end but way smoother up & down shift & better belt life. He uses a steel helix on a very expensive steel needle bearing roller so it is very very efficient. You have to add about 10 degrees to each angle to get a similar angle in most aftermarket billet helix,s. I can,t really speak for any other guys rollers but i have ran this one on
97 700 sx piped ported
97 700 mm piped ported
1998 MSRX
2001 SRX
2001MM
2000 700 sxr piped ported
2003 rx-1 stock
2003 rx-1 turboed
2006 attak
2007 attak
Worked well on every one of these sleds but required some clutching knowledge & using the proper helix/primary weight combo.

I've tried just about every one out there...
the advant-edge is very good...

the one that stand out from the rest to me is the "HEELCLICKER" roller

The Advant-Edge unit is very nice and well thought out. The only down fall is the price of the helixes and it can become expensive and tough if you don't buy the correct helix the first time!

I would encourage you to take a look at the new Supreme Tool Tuner secondary if you get a chance. It's is expensive, but can be transferred to any sled and uses inexpensive Cat helixes.

So can the HCX (heelclicker unit)....

and it has constant radius helix technology which applies force throughout the shift ratio

SJ I prefer the straight 42. I am using a 42-34 now but hope to be able pull the 42 this year. I have also run a 42-46 with factory arms which ran good. I have run the 50 with the red spring but the back shift is pretty bad. I also like the ST yellow spring but the Yami pink works good to. Holds the r's on top a little more. Jason

Well if I where to go back to a roller it would be an ER. Duane is very knowledgeable, and will ussually recut or swap you helix's until you get it right. For right now I am sticking with stock, and an Ulmmer stage 2 kit, but anything is possible. Maxdlx

i have a supertorquer kit for sale, 38deg, 150 shipped.

im not much of a salesman though, i do like the hauck roller/ lightning pro. they use stock helixes, last for ever and are cheap to rebuild when you need to. they are not removable though.

Roller

Duane is great to work with. He's exchanged several helixes until we got the combo just right. I've used most other secondarys out there and the Paragon has been the best to date. The Paragon isn't cheap but is well worth it if your serious about clutching. I use Yamis lightest Primary spring with cut clutches, 911 cover and Heavy Hitters. Top end is much better than stock (4-5 mph) and backshift is exceptional. There are several very good setups out there i.e. Ulmers kits work well. In addition Fred @ Lightning Pro is now running a Paragon on his Turbo and I know he would be more than happy to give you more info with his experience. Gettin close to winter!
