My buddy has a 2006 Apex GT that keeps spitting out track clips....he thinks they are catching on that big washer that holds the front arm in place....it also holds the bushing in the front arm where it attaches to the tunnel.
He tried building up the guides that help the track bend over the front arm...it has helped a little but not as much as he likes.
He asked a local dealer and they told him to check TottallyYamaha.com, they thought some guys figured out a way to add a bearing to that front arm mount.

Any ideas?

And while I'm asking questions.....why does the 2007 Apex RTX have a yellow headlight?

thanks!

I read on here that the front plastic rail caps are installed with a rivet from the factory and that they get loose over time. It was said that the loose rail caps can cause the track clips to get ripped off. I will admit that at first I thought this was a little far fetched.

My buddy rides an Apex aswell and we noticed that all the track clips were gone on the RH side and about 5 on the the LH side. We removed the skid for some routine Maintenance and guess what we found. Both rail end caps were gone! I now beleive that this is indeed the cause of missing track clips.

Replace the rivet with a bolt and put some silicone in the gap between the cap and the the slider or Hyfax

i just drilled my rivets out on caps and put stainless bolts in there, they were loose with rivets.i was 0-36 track clips, not sure how very little ware on caps?they put the yellow headlight on to be differant! :yam:

I have had the same problem with track clips on my '06 Attak. Bolting the caps solid did help some, but did not completely eliminate the problem. I re-clipped my entire track with new clips and crimped them as tight as I could. Haven't lost any since....my opinion is that Yammi had some tracks with a bad crimp job on the clips. Seems like people either have this problem from the get-go, or never have it for 1000's of miles.
