Put the fuel pressure gauge on it and it went to 40 psi. Then when i started it and ran it, the gauge went crazy flickering between 35 an 42 psi and it's constantly growling. Well, what do you guys think?

This is the latest. I pinched off the fuel return line going to tank to test the fuel pump. What i found was that when i turned the key on the pump bounced up to 80 p.s.i. and then bounced back and forth between that and 50 p.s.i. the whole time. It never was steady pressure. Didn't hold pressure either. And no there was no fuel going back to tank. Well what do you guys think? Please tell me, this probally the cause. It makes sense. When i go into the boost the fuel pump can't keep up because of the fluctuation of pressure.

Then... you might check fpr?
If fuel pressure would be so high up then idle would be unbelievably rich!

By pinching the return line it deadheads the pump which creates twice the pressure, bit it suppose to be steady pressure not bouncing all over. I read there is a check valve in these pumps which is suppose to hold pressure which it isn't doing either. Please if I'm wrong this please chime in before I spend $150

Fuel controller went bad if it ran good one pass and won't run the next. Once it builds boost it can't get the fuel it needs.

It's not the fuel controller as it is the rb3 and does not connect to the injectors there. And I already tried that. I also did find a little exhaust leak right after the downpipe in the tunnel.

Hey Mike, did you read how the fuel pump is acting though. It should hold pressure with the return line clamped. It should have a steady pressure build, not bouncing all over the place. Right?
and that is with the engine off and return line clamped shut

This morning i deadheaded the pump before the fuel rail but after the pressure gauge and the pressure bounced up and down up to 80 p.s.i. then quickly fell to 0 when i turned the key off. Ordering a pump today.

Well I went to the nearby advance auto parts and they actually had the msd pump sitting on the shelf. Went and installed and poof, fuel went to 40 psi and stay there. Shut off the engine and it still stayed there. Well i believe the problem is solved. just need to ride it now and see. I have a little exhaust leak just as the down pipe goes into the tunnel. My wife wanted me to thank you guys as i can sleep now. Sticky for testing failing fuel pumps?

Thanks for the feedback, good to know we were guessing in the right area. Will keep this in mind for future troubleshooting...mbarryracing said:...I agree with TBird, it sounds like fuel... maybe pressure related.
What kind of pump are you using? Stock or inline high pressure? Maybe the pump is going away...
