they are all heavy machines, last year the apex's were hanging with the mach z and sometimes beating them, what makes the f1000 so much faster if the apex's with some mod's and good set-up's won't hang with them?

power to weight. Cat always did make one of the fastest machines, but they dont dont hold up for squat. I should know I've owned em for 16 years even though I hate to admit it.

that's cool, but why can't the apex with some trick's be able to match it or come close?

I can tell you a well tuned Mach beats a stock Apex. It's a simple case of Numbers. Apex 150hp Mach Z 170hp. with equal weight. Same goes for the f1000. It will make more hp and weighs the same.
Now a highly tuned apex will beat a Machz that's not highly tuned or even one thats tuned but not great.

I had a chance to ride a Mach Z, F1000, and Apex the last weekend of October. The Apex will run with them for 700-800 feet, but after that the Mach & F1000 both had more top end. This was with all three sleds setup and in equal conditions. A good setup F1000 this season will be 180+ hp and they have made 200 hp on pump gas with porting. The Mach Z is capable of 180+ hp with porting and twins, etc as well.

Why??? Are you a trail rider or a racer? You need to decide. The 150hp apex is a kickazz trail sled. Super chargers and Turbos are made for two things Racing and Mountains. There isn't a place you could ride as a trail rider that you'd need more then what the Apex offers for power.
Would 165hp be nice ya. Would 175 be better sure but then your getting to the point where the power is useless for trail riding.
I can tell you this if Yamaha Comes out with a true 120 to 130 Hp light weight trail banger I'll own one in an instant!!!
I loved my attack but a sled that weights 60 to 100 pounds less that makes 20 to 30 HP less would be the king of the trail in my book.
Would 165hp be nice ya. Would 175 be better sure but then your getting to the point where the power is useless for trail riding.

I can use 230 HP in the trail any day. Not necessarily need it but sometimes its useful. Guess it depends what you are used to I haven't had a sled under 180 hp for a few years now.

Not going to ride this year. But I am building lake racer to play on Anchor bay with. I might also bring it up for thje muni ride if the boys are headign ovr to gwinn again to race.
