Are your torsion springs on soft , as Star recommends ?Yes i have the star kit with the shocks revalved and stiff center spring. It works awesome but it sags a bit compared to last season and the only thing different I've done is pulled in the strap one hole and the fact that it has about 7000 more miles since the start of last season.
I would not think the strap position affects the sag , so it must be your springs are worn and need to be advanced to the next stiffer setting , and this should solve your sag , and full rebound issue , that should also be occurring .
Have you re greased your zerks on the suspension ?
Is the track Yamaha spec tight ?
Cant think of anything else .
Unless you ate too many cheeseburgers in the off season !!!!
Or all of the above .

so the stiffer spring limits the transfer ?This my biggest concern as well. Will handeling be compromised? I've read on some posts that you can not throttle thru the corners because of the transfer, and I'm not going to sacrifice handling for softness. My skid rides well with the front Warrior shock. Limiters set all the way out. The stock spring is weak and it was blowing thru the stroke thats why I changed it. It also lowered the front by 1/2 inch which added better handling characteristics for the front end.
how did you lower the front 1/2 inch ?

They were on soft, then i tried them on medium and still have sag then put it to full hard and still has some sag. New springs are crazy expensive so I might get the star 5 position adjusters. Skid is well greased but you might be right about the cheeseburgers.

There is supposed to be some sag , 1 and a half inches to 2 , I think .They were on soft, then i tried them on medium and still have sag then put it to full hard and still has some sag. Its hard to imagine that the spring tension could change that much in one year , but then again it takes me almost 3 years to sled as much as you do in a year ! I am envious .

What controls the transfer on the XTX Star set up ?
I am so close to wicked steering , and just need to make some minor adjustments .
Caveman how is your season going ?

Season couldn't be better, still 2ft in the yard, 3ft in the woods behind the house and much more up north with another 10" coming this weekend, we'll be going for at least another month plus in NH/ME. In Chicago today, 58 and zero snow. Star kit working great, the heavy spring, shocks redone, strap up one hole, little preload up front, 13mm sway bar, whatever it is, totally totally dialed in for fast riding and great handling and wouldn't change a thing. Any sag that's there isn't much, mostly none but seems to change slightly on how fast i park it and nowhere near what it was. If the skids working the way it should, I wouldn't worry about it, it's not a trampoline.

As I mentioned I have basically done everything you have done ,except the shock reworks with Robert .
Because I believe what you and others are saying , that in addition to the importance of the shim , the shock work is the final piece of the puzzle , to have the best possible steering achievable .
What I am trying to adjust is what I think is skid transfer , when I start to accelerate thru a corner , and my skis get" a little slippery", even with the snowtrackers .

Sorry Sledroll I didn't realize that was you. I don't think not having your shock valving redone yet is affecting the skis still sliding around a bit coming fast through the corners. I know you changed your center shock spring, I would get the skid up in the air and tighten the spring as much as you can, maybe another 5mm or more, crazy tight I know but that will get more pressure on the skis. Glad to hear you're still going too, lousy that many had a short season. Snowing now, time to ride.

I was wondering about that spring tension , as I originally thought that my spring was stiffer than yours , and so I backed it off some , and now I will tighten up as you suggest . I assume this will reduce slightly my wheelies , which are kind a fun , but got me a speeding ticket , as it is hard to slow down when your skis and track are in the air !Sorry Sledroll I didn't realize that was you. any new input on this subject? I am spending money right now on my xtx and this maybe one area. has anyone not done the star and got good results I am considering a shock revalve/rebuild and maybe pulling the strap one hole for more cornering still get inside ski lift with 13mm sway bar and front shocks as low as possible without rattle and snowtrackers. also get a little lumber wagon in studders when shocks were fresh

i had this kit the last year and half. This summer i called hygear to redo my blown shocks and they told me only to use the rear section of the star kit and leave the center part stock. So i put the center shock parts back to stock and bought the twisted springs and add on reservoir for the center shock. So you may want to ask robert at star if you can buy just the rear section with his stiffer spring for the center shock and have him revalve both shocks. His valving is really pretty good the sled will be night and day difference

thank you for the response do you have a number for Robert? by chance. I am investing so much into the rest of the sled this year so i am hopeing I can get by with just a valve adjustment and reseal I never hated the stock set up it was just a little harsh when new for about 1000 miles then it was perfect for about 5000 miles and then kinda worn to far for the last 1700.
