I recently purchased a 2007 yamaha phazer gt. I called my local dealer and had them run the VIN to figure out whether any updates had been done. It hasn't had any updates whatsoever. Should i take it in for all the updates or leave it alone? :dunno:

Some of them are safety related, like the lower ball
joints. You should be able to pressure them into at least giving you the parts. I would do the ground wires
and the starter relay. The cold start you'll have to make up your own mind, if you ride in real cold weather it may be worth it.

Ground wire (i guess you could wait until it fails but that might mean downtime during the season), tunnel block off (not necessarily from Yamaha), steering update and the rad fan (also can source parts from somewhere else. I think it was a yamaha motorcycle if you have the plug available.

We have found out that the cold start ECU helps a lot with the cold start. Seen some positive results without getting the springs.

I am sure there are more but those are the ones that come to mind right off the bat and are common problems.

That's a great site.

When I say have the plug available I mean I believe some sleds had a harness for the fan to plug in directly. In that case all he would need to do is get the fan and plug it in. I'll try to find more info on it.

updates

i think ill definentley have to do the cold start and the radiator fan because of the extreme differences in temps i ride in. The ball joints i will definentley talk to the dealer about.
Thanks for the help :rocks:

As far as I can tell if you use a 2004 R1 fan it should plug right in to the harness. Also the 07 GT should have the harness ready to go. The base models where the ones without the harness.

The grey pinout on the ECU you need shows in the 2007 pz50 diagram. Doesn't look to be that big of a project to wire in if that pinout is good. (Check part #'s on the ECU's, if they are the same you are fine.) All
of the Phazer models except the base have the wiring
from what the diagrams show.
It shows the base as having 3 fuses in the fuse block and 6 fuses in the other models.

If you have an unused fuse, 1 in from the end that is for the fan. Takes a 15 amp , has a red feed wire and a Brown/Red exit wire that would go to the fan relay.

A buddy of mine just put a rad. Fan on an 07 GT and it had the plug all he had to do was bolt up and plug it in. Also if it is a GT it will have non rebuildable steel shocks in the skid. FX has aluminum shocks in skid I believe.

that sucks because i'm starting to think mine is a fx phazer with reverse, not a GT.

My brother's 07 FX had the harness. We used an R1 fan and had to add mount tab.

updates

havent had time to run over to the shop and look to see whether it has the plug, but i ordered an r1 fan.
