Asphalt Results 2003 (RX1)

rx-1

NOS PRO

Do you get the track early? I know i can usually get my car to the track at opening (9:00 am) and can run good times but by noon way to hot... loose as much as 3 tenths.. I noticed temp. always seem to be in the mid 80s when ya run...

KEEP UP ALL THE GOOD WORK AND KEEP US POSTED!!!

Hey angleboy - I was going to let my buddy take it for a spin down the track, when he comes up. He weighs 130. I am guessing a 10.50 out of it.

Hey welterracer - When we run Saturdays, our first runs are at 1:15pm, and yes, it is at it's hottest time then. Sunday's are coming, and we start at 8am. October, and 1st 2 weeks of November, are going to be fun. Not only is it cooler, but we can make time run after time run.

Gearing

Hey NOSPRO!!

I read back and you switched to the 22 upper gearing.. WHAT was the oringinal gearing? LOWER gear TOO?

I read that my new rx-warrior is going to have a 23/38 settup, is this a significantly better set up than the 03,rx's had?

Thanks!! :D

Gearing

Stock 2003 gearing is 24/38. There are lots of opinions as to what ratio is best. It really depends on what you are looking for in terms of quickness and speed. I personally liked either 23/38 or 24/38 for everyday riding. But 22/38 is definitely quicker to 110 mph.

SHould i change my gearing, I do mostly all high speed trail riding, and some lake BLASTS!!

Or will it be fast enough stock.. THANKS

Hey welterracer - Buckeye is right, 24/38. I switched to the 22, to increase 60 ft. times, but now, like some others, am convinced to go to 23 for next week. 23/38 should be good for you, should still pull away from everybody. I will try 23/38 this year on the trail.

Hey everybody - 7/26/03, just when I thought it would get better, it turns worse than ever. 90+ degrees, 63% humidity, sunny, and winds 30+, and of course, from the end of the track. Rained all morning till 1pm., and then it got HOT!!!

Same setup as last (HH's with 3/8 steel, middle and tip)

1st run - 1.579 60 ft. 6.999@94.735 1/8 mile 11.301@111.052 1/4 mile
2nd run - 1.554 60 ft. 7.002@94.535 1/8 mile 11.318@110.396 1/4 mile
3rd run - 1.575 60 ft. 7.044@93.800 1/8 mile 11.406@109.513 1/4 mile
4th run - 1.551 60 ft. 6.965@94.730 1/8 mile 11.271@111.043 1/4 mile
(redlighted by -.007, and broke out.[dialed an 11.28])

Will be working on the carbs this week.

Gearing

The 23/38 will give a little more quickness without much topend loss. Try it the small gears aren't very expensive. Should be good for the trail.

Terry

Terry I don't think you'll run good times until you have good weather. Your running your sled on stock jetting and the temps are just to high!!!

Change the bottom gear to a 40 with the stock 24 on top. The chain will be straighter & will give a little better drive trai efficiency. You can use a Polaris 40 hyvo gear in the bottom with no modification. You just need to run a thinner spacer & it will bolt right in. The Polaris Hyvo gears are also 1/2 the weight of the yammie gear so you gain a bit on losing rotating mass too.

Hey J - Couldn't agree with you more, BRING ON THE COOL WEATHER!!! I hope the Big Man heard me.

Hey turk - Thanks for the gear info, got a 23 on order now, if you know the polaris part #, post it, and I will try that also.

40 tooth gear

Too bad they don't make a 40 tooth for the reverse sleds. Maybe someone will this year.

Hey Buckeye - I heard they were not going to have the gear ratios that they have for the models without reverse. That is why I chose not to have one with reverse. I would have only used it a couple of times last season for 1000 miles, so I am glad I don't have it, but......., the first time I get really stuck, everybody might want to cover their ears, cause I will be cussing soo much!

hey terry, how do you have your rear suspension setup? tell me how much thread is showing (in inches) from the rear shock and then let me know how you have your transfer rods setup. you should be able to lower your 60' times yet. there's a tenth in that setup somewhere yet in the first 60'.
