Hey Srxspec - I will be there, but on Sunday only, still fighting for top ten at the track. Unless bad weather comes to Kaukauna, I will be there sometime Saturday.

Hey RobX-1 - The setup from Hauler, is 4 washers and a long large allen screw in the tip, nothing in the middle, and 3 small washers with the allen head screw in the heel. The problem was the spider clearance. I tried 1 weight, and it rubbed way tooo much. I thought about taking a washer out from the tip, and it did clear, but I wanted to try his setup the way he sent it to me, so I used both stock plastic bushings, (one on each side), and 1 thick plastic bushing from the kit, to offset the heel clicker. I thought it might hurt it or cause a vibration, but it still ramped up on the roller o.k., and felt good.

Hey everybody - I got the timeslips, and wow, did I miss a bunch, posts that is.

Heel clickers(4 washers and long large allen head screws in tip, nothing in the middle hole, 3 small washers with the allen head screw in the heel. 47 straight with a green spring set at 80%)

3rd run - back to HH's with 7/16 with thick washer in middle and tip. Secondary at 50%
1.536 60 ft. 6.920 @ 95.725mph 1/8 mile 11.175 @ 112.583mph

4th run - same as 3rd
1.539 60 ft. 6.935 @ 95.617mph 1/8 mile 11.196 @ 112.321mph

Round 1 - spun like a @#$%^&
1.793 60 ft. 7.217 @ 94.802mph 1/8 mle 11.510 @ 111.352mph

I wish I could try a 47/60, cause this RX1 could use the top end charge. It is better with the 23 top gear now, good pull al the way thru.

NOS-PRO are you running 1250 feet or 660 feet

cause day 1 today us with 38-20 gearring and heel clickers with 3 washers in tip and long bolt and a 47' at 6-2 and also stock prim spring

and same set up in the heel as you
1st run was .558 SEC
2.060 60 foot E.T. 8.912 @ 88.863 MPH

2ND RUN
.672 SLEEP ON LIGHT
1.876 60 FOOT & 8.037 @95.508 MPH

3RD RUN
RED LIGHT .472
1.788 60 FOOT & 7.745 @ 96.369 MPH

WE WAS RACING 660 FEET

MY REVS WAS 9800
ENGAGEMENT WAS 3200 RPM

now for sunday i will try 4 washers in tip with long bolt and try 47' with silver spring at 6-1 so gives me 70%

also im using a hard track not a soft i wish i had a soft would of done us better
so if your racing 660 foot im way off pace here
1/8 = 660
1/4 = 1320
so i shure hope your not running 660 cause the dam pro stocks here ran what your running for pseeds a 1000 cat pro stock ran 116 mph in 6.2 seconds

anyways let me know what you guys thing here that might help me out
alos the guy racing my sled weight in at 160 lbs wet
we are also using as little fuel as posible
thnx marc

Extreem,if you are using that many washers in tip, thats why you are not pulling your rpms, try long bolt only,in tip u want your rpms around 10,200-10,500 you should be at that rpm around 200 foot mark, even for 660' you may be geared to low,but your track is not helping you at all, most stock rx1s in 660' up here are in high 90 mph and upper 6s et. Keep on trying though thats how you get um deiled. :D

Hey Ryan - I heard you were down there, but you had grass drags Sat. Don't worry, it was the same down there on Sat., more mosquitos than ever. You should see my arms.

Hey Marc, I race 1320 ft., but I think you need a softer track. I had the same problems with the harder compound, crappy 60 fts. I am 230lbs., and still coudn't get the thing to hook with the harder compound track. We are at the same sea level, how about that. I am running 23/38 now for gearing, maybe try it and see if it runs the same. Are you going in the water for your burnout? I was really getting my track wet, and spraying the tunnel, which dropped water on the track at the starting line. I spun like crazy. Try doing a dry burnout if you can.

Hey everyone - I went to the track on 8/16/03, and tryed some more with the heel clickers. Temp was 89 degrees with 84% humidity. My arms felt like I had tree sap all over them, the rest of my body, well we won't get into that. Was sunny all day with the track being 136 degrees at the starting line.

Heel clickers same as last time, but tried a blue drag spring from BBY. My engagement was 5700, and it hooked like a bear clicking of 1.710 60 ft. times. You might think that is slow, but that was with the track, not the skis. I hope the track photographer got that picture. It went up big time.

secondary set at 60%
1st run - 1.571 60 ft. 6.994 @ 94.932 mph 1/8 mile 11.267 @ 112.022 mph 1/4 mile

secondary set at 80%
2nd run - 1.710 60 ft. 7.101 @ 95.638 mph 1/8 mile 11.357 @ 112.392 mph 1/4 mile

secondary set at 90%
3rd run - 1.726 60ft. 7.122 @ 95.305 mph 1/8 mile 11.386 @ 112.249 mph 1/4 mile

4th run (round 1) I had the red light on before I even hit the throttle. I went up to the tower and complained, to find out that it happened to 3 other people in the same class with sleds in lane 1. They refused to do anything about it, and I demanded that next time I go there, the sled will be brought to the line, and checked for misalignment of the lights. I was at the lights, and even staged first. The light went on and that was it.

Terry,

If your going to run that Blue Primary spring, you could try the HH's again and load the piss out of them. That setup comes out very hard when tuned properly. Man, sure would be nice if you had good weather for a change. Damn, its been hot every race for you...BBY

today day # 2 and was it ever hot yesturday was cloudy and cold
but today we hook up nice and even got fater speeds
be we changed the secondary from 6-2 to 3-2 and also droped the belt in 1/8 on the secondary

and man we got a 4th today

here is our times from the 2 test runs

run #1

.725 sleep on the light a little ;)

60 foot 1.918
1/8 mile 7.754
at 97.356 ,mph

run #2

.643

60 foot 1.827
1/8 mile 7.820
@ 96.096 mph

now for races

1st race was rx1 vs rx1

.588
60 foot 1.802 spun out big time
1/8 mile 7.622
85.866 we sand bag to get win and it work hammered the binders befor the line

race 2 rx1 vs pro stock 1000 cat

now this if funny as #*$&@ remeber my rx1 only has 23 miles on it !!
rx1...dail -in 7.200..................1000 cat 7.25
.545 ------------------------------.625
60 foot 1.641 ---------------------1.557
1/8 mile 7.327 ---------------------7.151
@ 98.246 mph ---------------------93.879 mph

now this was funny we beat him out cause he was trying to sand bag , he dail in at 6.23 in the 1st 2 heats when he seen he had to run us he changed it to 7.25 so he can just put along but we played him and we would slow down and speed up and he also did then got too much momentum to stop and blew hes time.... well we got a 4th today thnx to bby who help me out last night .. thnx again matt and terry

now for the pics

Hi marc, glad to see you put your shocks back in,i was going to do the same thing w/mine,use the shipping stops that came w/sled from shipping, those steel square pieces between the a-arms,but it would be soo stiff you would surly get hurt on the grass. So marc have you guys or you, whoever is wrenching on the sled, been able to limit down the rear skid,w/ a strap or something,i assume you have straped down the front w-arm,is there a way to strap the back down? This is what we were unable to do on mine last year on grass, but that wont be a problem this fall lol as i will have a cat suspension in and w/the torque arms they have its simple, the reason i asked is your rear looked a little high compared to your front,oh did i mention the stock rx1s that are going so good in 660' here are running redline 10" rear skids, this helps alot,so you guys working w/stock skids are handy caped compared to these guys for sure,so keep up the great work exstreem. pete 8)

i used shocks from a 97 sx 700 and loosened then right off

as for rear skid i driled new hold on top of the ones in the from 1.5" up
and cranked it up
as for back of skid i used 2 ski doo limiter straps and wraped around the main shaft at the back top and then driled a new shaft right infront of the set of wheels at the back for the strap to go around
we got it so tight that there is no transfor and it just grabs

as for the front bars yes it would be too stiff for rx1 but works well for other sleds

also mnmsnowbeast we are running asphalt
not grass i have 3 fire crackers that we run on grass

no the rear of the rx1 is best right were its at
any lower and the trasnfor rods would be in the seat
im now modding a srx rear skid with my lathe and milling machine to run a 10" wide asphalt track
for next year i have already started this month lots of bushings and stuff to make and also shafts
i was hopping to have it ready for this race but no so
10" track will give you about 5 mph more and 2 to 3 seconds less on time

Hey Marc - Good job!!! Wait until you get that baby in the 6's! Then, everybody will be surprized.

BBY (Matt) - I tried the blue spring from the note setup. I am trying to see if I can get the setup to run with the HH's. Did you hear if Jeff went faster than 10.80's? I tried to do more with the clutching, but it was just to Damn Hot!!! I can't wait until the snow flies. After 1st round, 4 of us were watching sldnecks, and Braaaap, and dousing ourselves with water. The bottle is going in within the next week or so, and will see what we can add to the weights. I will be calling you this week for some items for winter, so let me know when is a good time.

Hey Marc - The guys I sold my old track to in Idaho, said they use brake aresol cleaner to clean the track, or use a traction compound from a local car shop. Do they spray the track by you with traction compound? Might have to try a softer track.
The guy that runs 9's by me with the skidoo, has a 40 durometer track for $175 us. It has a lot of life left on it, but has a blister in the middle, where it got hot or something. It didn't vibrate or shake, he just swithed to a 10 inch track with a $2,000 us dollar Wahl suspension.

Guys....when racing just check for full shift the good ole fashion way. Just use a black felt marker on the inside shives of the primary & secondary . Run a straight line from the bottom to the top of the shive in 3 different spots. After a couple of runs check to see if clutches are getting close to full shift & the black marker is all rubbed off. It is an old lo tech way of checking clutching but still works good as anything for long runs.
