Went to the U.P. this weekend with a long time riding buddy that always buys a new Cat every year. This years was the 1000 Crossfire, after 500 miles he blew the rear shock which resulted in eating the tunnel. Cat gave him a new replacement sled, new sled had 100 miles and the rear limiter stap bolts gave! We did a trail side fix on that, continued on and the rear tail light quit. So we just rode a safe distance apart, about the 220 mile mark I noticed at a idle the crossfire would shoot a nice size flame out the exhaust. Well it wasn't long and he had a fire! The belly pan and some of the oil tank was all melted! He was so proud of his Cat he would not admit there was some issues, I thought the sled would be a lot faster than my Attak as well. But after a few races on the road, lakes, and railroad grades I still pulled from top to bottom. I tell ya those Cat guys have some dedication!
