As my aviator suggests, you can do led strips. This helps if you like riding as the tail gunner, and "older more experienced riders" insist they can't trust you. Tell them you'll run the LEDs and they'll be able to identify you miles back....."now do your 120 mph on your DOO and leave me to enjoy the ride."
#3: Get you eyes checked. Seriously.....I went in and complained to what seemed like a young 12 year old little girl, that I could never see well at night. Turns out she was right. Much better night vision with a new prescription contact lenses, but need reading glasses now. Oh well.
#4: PowerMadd makes awesome led hand guards. Freaking awesome. Lights the trail sides up perfectly. HID bulbs and the PowerMadds is all you really need.
#5: I bought Alpha Powersport boondocking lights when they were available. They're ok. Not great....just ok. Maybe they're not getting enough current? They are out of business, but the lights are typical Jeep accessories.
Here's some pics.

I just ordered a set of LED bulbs for my Vector because it would be an easier install than HIDS.

I have LED bulbs now. They're bright, but not very far down the trail. I've also tried silver stars. They were ok at best. I checked out rocks website, it doesn't give you the option to choose your bulb color.

I will back Rock up 100% on HID temp (color) He has tested plenty of temps and ballasts to find the combination that works in most conditions. There is some science behind using a temp that will not reflect off the snow/snow dust. Anyone feeling they need a temp that looks blue or something else can trust that Rock has already tested that temp.
I have had these HID's in 5 Yamaha's with great results. And as stated, you can go cheap and get better than stock with a bulb swap, but it won't be like HID's. At least if you go cheap, you won't be the guy being asked to load last every time. I get that, as my headlights light up the trailer the best! HA!

X2 especially for Apex. Rock tested them in all extremes a lot. I saw it more than once. Just pay the $ and do it right.I will back Rock up 100% on HID temp (color) He has tested plenty of temps and ballasts to find the combination that works in most conditions. I tried to save some money and install another kit that came highly recommended at the time. I spent 2 months trying to track down the bad part and waiting for replacement parts . I got so fed up I bought another set of ROCZ HID's and it's completely plug and play no ground wires no huge mess to Zip strip all together. I think it took me 42 mins from the time I pulled it in the garage and pulled everything apart to the time I drove it out of the garage . He's kit is the best I've seen. If your an electrical genius buy the other ones!

I put hid projectors in my apex. They have been in for more then a year, have yet to do a night ride.
People say they are bright in direct sunlight.
The testing I have done makes them look 1000x better then stock. A nice cut off beam and everything .
I went cheap....... Amazon it was plug in play besides installing the projectors into the headlight housing.

This is HIDS and small LED "driving lights" mounted to the reflector brackets. The small lights are 700 lumens each and provide as much light as the HIDs. They light up every little bump or hole in the trail. When I turn off the driving lights it's like driving in the dark-- with the HIDs on! Huge difference.

This is where I bought mine, they're now 900 lumens! Probably get the 30 degree beam so not to blind anyone.
