First off let me tell you the fishing in Manitoba was incredible. I caught 5 trophy pike the first day of camp. The lengts were 41",42",44",44 1/2", and 47". The 47 incher had a 22 1/2" gerth and weighed 35 lbs. The quality of Pike was the best I have ever seen. Between my brother in law and myself we caught 10 trophys the first day. His were 41,42,43,44, and 45 inches. Ill attach some pics on the bottom.

Secondly Id like to thank Bountyhunter (larry) and Lakeracer (Jim) for taking the time to come the the Hotel for a few beers. It was a pleasure meeting you guys, I only wish we had more time the BS. Larry brought me a cool pike setup and a walleye setup. His Pike setup landed me the 44 1/2 incher. Turks tip about the perch colored plug landed me the 44 incher. The 47", 42" and 41" were caught on a chartruse Buchertail. What an incredible trip, it couldnt have been better. Enjoy the pics

gawd diyamn!

dude I have been fishing since I was too little to fish, and have never seen a prairie shark like that. Awesome catch. Did you filet or steak those monsters? I prefer to filet them, but steaks would be good when they are that big.

Thanks Ken. Those pics are of each fish over 41 that I caught. The top one is the 47". Its a catch and release lake only. So I took measurements of them all and will have replicas made in Toronto. It was and incredible experience and will most likely be the measure of all future trips. We actually flew out the day we caught the big ones and got so spoiled. We literally caught over 100 fish (2 guys) over 36". It was so unbelievable and couldnt have dreamed it any better than it turned out...BBY

Looks like the stripers from out here... Maybe not that big but when their running people snag some huge ones in front of my parents house.

Congrats on catching the nice fish. A couple of details please. Water temp? Depths you were fishing? Did you catch them off of weed beds or out in open water above some structure? Were they all caught on spinners are did you have any success with plugs or live bait?

Out of curiosity, since it was a catch and release lake, did you have to use barb-less hooks too? Did they let you use trebble hooks?

. :D See and you doubted me, I told you that you would catch 100 fish in a day & BIG BIG PIKE! ;)! ;)! ;)! :-o :-o glad to see you had that much success and fun, as you look a little tired in the photos ;)! . Maybe one day we can hook up and I'll take you out for trophy cat fish 25-30lb range right out of winnipeg on the Red River. ;)!

Suisse Sledder.

-Water Temps were around 45 degrees
-Depths were all very shallow. 2-8 feet
-All caught in shallow bays with some weed structure (not alot)
-Read the last paragraph of my first post for luers used
-You can not use live bait on this lake
-All of Manitoba is barbless
-And Yes, you can use treble hooks

I used to live up at Snow Lake and then Thompson myself. Being a born and raised prairies Ukie though, I never could figure out how to clean them alligators without bones, sooo, we used to throw them things back and take the Walleyes. There's no better eating fish, in my opinion.

I wonder if they hear us whizzing by on the ice in the winter?

Nice pics. Wish I was there too.

Nice fish Matt, sounds like you had an unreal trip. Now, if you think the fishing is good, you should see the riding we have to offer....!

Good meeting you and Larry too. Next time you'll have to try and stay in Winnipeg for more than a few hours :D
