I'm looking at putting a Backcountry on my XTX. I am ride off trail, deep snow, hill climbing as well as some trail. Some folks that have the backcountry say they love it, others have said the paddles are very rigid and causes it to trench. So I'm trying to find out if it trenches more than the stock ripsaw track? I did pretty good last season with the stock track, even in 4-5 feet of fresh powder (just had to keep moving). I am just looking for a little bit better deep snow performance. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Well my cousin rode his 09 xtx right from the dealer with the 1.75" backcountry track and it improved the sled so much. He hasn't gotten stuck in deep pow at all, a few times in the mountains but thats all. A greater improvement over ripsaw.

I have a Backcountry on my rtx. I love it! It has soft lugs that work well offtrail, for trail riding there are better tracks with harder lugs.

Back Country's have stiff lugs, Very similar to a snowcross lug. The only track I have seen that has stiffer lungs is a Polaris assault stock track.

Yes, I just ordered and installed a Backcountry track for my Apex the lugs are definitely not soft. The lugs on a challenger or even the 1.5" crossover track are softer. The backcountry will definitely hook up when the snow is set up.

I see you guys are Souther WI riders, do you ride local much or is it all up north. Also how much trail riding do you do, I have not been able to make up my mind between the Backcountry or the Crossover.......I do ride a good amount of trail but I am determind to do alot more off trail and out west riding this year.

I do not have a back country track but have seen many on XTX's and some 121". I did ride last year with a 2"x136" hard lung mountain track on the tails(25%), out west(50%), and off trail up north(25%). I ran the track lose all the time and it worked great on the trails but I was always looking at my slides on the trails. I would love to get a back country track and run ice scratchers but that was suit my riding the best everybody is different.
I see tracks kinda like clutching you can't have it all... Although I have heard a lot of good things about he cobra track and if you trail ride more then 65% I would look at a cobra.

THANKS, I ordered the BackCountry, I have RSI scratchers as well. Though it was the stock track I managed the whole season (2600 miles) on the original slides. I rode in pretty good snow all year. I think the 1.75 is going to be the best comprimise for me and it was at a good price (550). I am sure my buddies will hate to ride behind me once again.

Installed on my Apex it looks to be the perfect lug height for a fair compromise of trail and off trail riding. I am thinking it will hold up to trail abuse just fine.

Back Country...soft lugs??????
Yes soft, the lugs fold on hardpack trails.
But i just saw that tracksusa has 2 diffrent Backcountry tracks, one is for snowcross. That might explain why there are diffrent impressions about how hard the lugs are?

I can defenetly say that the lugs on my Backcountry 1.75 is alot softer than any BRP, POL or AC snowcross track.
