I never started a thread on this machine before so might as well do it now.

The day I got it, October 16, 2007, nice and clean:

GPS Mount

I drilled the stock Riser and attached a RAM Ball Mount (UBolt Mount Ball) with stainless hardware:

I slotted the stock "pad" if you can call it that, to fit down over the bar of the ball mount.

I attached my 76Cx using Garmin Cradle and arm. A shorter arm is available and I may try it later.

I think it will work ok for trail riding and I can go steering lock to lock sitting or standing with my feet locked in and it doesn't impact my legs or knees so it might even survive a little playing in the bumps.

Skinz Float Plate

Here is my installed Skinz float plate in white.

The install on the plate was a breeze and the fit and finish is great. My only grip is the lack of a logo or anything on it. It would be nice if it said "Skinz" or "FX Nytro" or something on the front lip. But that's a small complaint to make for an otherwise great plate.

There is a bunch of stuff I can't find specific pictures for.

2 Inch Rox Risers added to Stock RTX Riser

Tunnel Protectors

After adding the Trail Tank and the Cobra I had heating issues so I removed the tunnel protectors to get better fresh snow onto the from heat exchanger and to help keep it from icing up as easily.

Temperature Guage

Around this time I also added a temperature gauge. It is a cyberdyne gauge and is wired in to only come on when the sled is running. It seems pretty accurate and is easy to read. The splice and gauge pod came from Ulmer.

MTX Heat Exchanger

Still having cooling issues occasionally last winter and not wanting them this winter I decided to add the Yamaha MTX cooler kit. It came with the heat exchanger and all the hoses and clamps. It was difficult to get one of the hoses attached but patience paid off.

Adding this cooler though caused an issue with my original Trail Tank. I had an early run tank that did not allow for this addition. The problem is the tank did not have a depression for this cooler and hoses. As you can see in the picture below, the top pip on the cooler itself is above the level of the heat shield and tunnel actually making it impossible in my case to get the tank in at all. Ill be replacing my back Trail Tank with a clear one.

Polishing

I decided to polish the tunnel in October as well.

This is what it was like before:

It isn't quite done yet but its a while until the snow flies for me.

Streeeeeeeeeetch

I jumped on the 08 RTX but I was never a fan of a shortie. After two winters trying to adapt, I decided to stretch it.

I'm going with an OFT Extension kit which uses a Hartman Tunnel extension. Here is a picture of the bits, including an OFT Steering relocator.

Hartman Tunnel Extension

I decided to install the tunnel extension first.

Here are some pics of the tunnel extension (part way through polishing it so it doesn't look the best yet). This is a fantastic tunnel extension. Construction is great and fit couldn't be any better. My pics are on an 08 RTX. I think the tunnel may have been mocked up on a newer RTX so I had some extra rivets to remove to get as tight a fit as I wanted and I filled all the ones I took out back in so it is a little overkill on the sides, but I'm not worried about it coming off.

I also still have to remove the reflector bracket from the old end cap and put it on the extension. I don't think it is really necessary I just want to keep it. I'm also debating on the piece under the snow flap on the stock end cap. It provided some strength to the flap and I'm not sure how it'll stand up without it.

Skid Refresh

I decided to take the skid down to bar bones, clean it up and polish it.

There are a couple of damaged parts that will need replacing. I may go with x-clicks if I can find them somewhere that won't charge me so much for damn shipping:

Bottom hook also destroyed on same side:

I decided to spray bomb the steel components due to some minor rust and chips, etc:

Still a few nicks in it but well worth the effort think.

I also installed the extension on the other rail and put the hyfax on it. I forgot to look and see how far the old hyfax were over the stock rails before I took them off to install this extension and new hyfax. Should I trim these back a bit or will the added radius of the wheel prevent any issues with this excess hyfax?:

That thing looks great. I think my Apex is getting that treatment next season. Spent too much time pulling it out of the snow last year. Never got around to it for this season so I'll have to suffer it out for another winter.
