Rack and Tail Light Move
Rack and Tail Light Move
With my increased tunnel space I decided to add a rack as well as relocating the tail light.
I'm going to put the tail light that I ordered on the end of the tunnel above the snow flap. I wanted to extend the wiring from where it was to back there but have it invisible. To start I ran the tail light wire down underneath the exhaust bracket:
Next since it was to run underneath the tunnel I wanted to protect it as much as possible. I saw another user (bamboo) had gone with brake line and I opted to do the same only a little differently than he had. I bent it to go from the exhaust bracket towards the side of the tunnel and then down to the back and back to the middle. I opted to run the wires through it first and put some jacket off of Cat 6 cable over it to make it nice and tight. When I wire it all together it will get heat shrink treatment as well.
My tail light, also inspired by bamboo, is not here yet so I moved onto the rack.
First, thanks to user Rx1 cowboy's idea, I added a rubber mat to the entire top of the tunnel. Yes this makes all my effort polishing the tunnel extension a waste but I was never satisfied with this polishing job. This mat is in the accessory catalog for Arctic Cat Bear Cats. It had to be cut to fit and since it was so big I decided to do up around the exhaust bracket as well. With a little help from the heat gun it sucked down good around the rivets.
Next I added a small aluminum rack, also from Arctic Cat, but for the M series. Exhaust turnout to follow.

Awesome job, but I cant take the credit for the wile in the brake line. That was "stopdropanroll" with came up with that. I used heat shrink tubing and Corrugated Flex Tubing to cover my wires. And zip tied them to the tunnel protectors.

Woops! Thanks for the correction. I have both yours and stopdropsanroll's posts bookmarked and made the mistake of thinking they were both yours.
If I still had tunnel protectors I would have done the same but they are in the past. I ordered the same light as yours though through a guy on ebay. I got a chrome bezel coming with it as well though I'm not sure it is going to fit. I might have to trim the snowflap but we shall see. It was worth a shot for $4.00.

Newest Mod. Snow in every orifice. We got an early season dump and I had to take it out for some road running before the plows got around in my rural area. I'm very impressed with all the mods I made, most importantly the temperature. The MTX cooler makes a huge difference to running temps. I didn't go over 190. Last year I didn't go below it very often.

I'm so jealous! They're talking 4 to 5 inches of snow around here tuesday...
Good to hear about the mtx cooler working! I installed mine the other day, super easy instal. I had the old style trail tank as well and ordered a new one. Mine was actually melted a little bit too, but not very bad at all.
The sled is looking good!

Looks great Jeff ... haven't tried out our stretched rides yet .... waiting for a bit more snow ... still putting the kids Ovations back together (still waiting on freight) ... stretched with donor tracks from the Nytro's which should give them a bit more bite over the OEM 3/4" rubber.

Small update with the tail light I installed.
I'm rotted with this season. Since that ride almost a month ago, there hasn't been a flake of snow fall here. What fell that day lasted a few days and has since disappeared. I have not got to shake down these mods at all locally so I'll end up having to trailer 8 hours each way just to get a ride on a largely untested sled. Better lug some tools....

I was over to Stephenville Yesterday. Flew all across the island. No snow anywhere. A bit in some of the hills but I certainly wouldn't drag my sled across for it.

Went for a ride in Lewis Hills a couple weekends ago. Lots of snow but all hard packed. Machine had a hard time keeping cool.

How did you polish the aluminum? Wet-sand? Looks great!

So I decided to do my own black and white version. The mid height one I have has a great trim on it that I didn't want to have to try and pry off and then reapply. As well where it attaches to the front shroud makes contact. I decided to tape these areas out. I did the same with the side shields.
And about very light 4 coats later:
I then cleaned it up, untaped and installed it to see how it turned out. Of course I didn't realize that it would now be more difficult to install the shroud as you have to look at the back of the shield to make sure the tabs behind the speedo line up properly.

I still have a little more polishing to do but so far I'm pleased with my mods this past few weeks.

Well the decals are inside the windshield against the plastic. I just painted right over them. To put it another way, I painted the inside of the windshield right over the decals.
The tunnels is wet sanded and then mother polished.
