I have heard the semi rigid bags are gettig damaged on 05 rx1's from yam. lots of warr. claims. would like to know if people like them ,its a lot of money for bags here in can. $229 + tax grab

I like mine, only one trip on them,(guys trip,we did ride hard)but so far no damage.04 warrior Jay

well florida snowmobiler i guess you travel a long way to put your sled on the white stuff, and thanks for all the responces from everyone

Bags held up fine but some paint didn't

I used mine on three trips last year with a mileage total for the trips at about 2000 miles. The bags have no damage. They carry alot of stuff and I never had a problem with anything getting wet.

But after the first weekend mine slightly scuffed the painted exhaust covers and a portion of the "Yamaha" lettering on the same covers. After that trip I lined the underside with fleece which stopped anymore damage.

Yamy Bags

I bought a set of the Bags that Yamaha put out and they are now at my dealers waiting for warranty claim. They were not a good idea for packing clothes in, because if you didn't wrap the items in plastic, your clothes were wet after a days riding. Another item was they wore out on the bottom where they came in contact with the running boards. Poorly thought out design.. :ORC

This is the bag that I have used for the past three seasons. Not one problem. It holds enough clothes for several nights on bagger trips, just put them in zip lock bags. You can also put your hat, bottle of water, and some snacks for day trips. It works well and you don't even know it is back there.

I tried those smaller bags, they may be fine for an overnighter but any longer and no way. One pair jeans filled one whole side pouch.

There are a couple aftermarket bags now designed for the RX-1 & Warrior. I think I saw one in the new Shadetree catalog.

Did 6 nights with this bag. ;)! Bag will hold set of clothes for the evening, toiletries, underwear, socks, swimming trunks, and pair of shoes. If you pack in zip lock bags, you can compress the air out of the clothes and get more stuff in the bag. You have to remember that you are on a bagger trip and not on a 6-day holiday cruise. I packed most of the items suggested in this thread in the bag.

You must be a little guy :D because even if I vacuum sealed my stuff there is no way I can fit a six day trip in those bags. Even if I was able to squeeze my size 13 shoes in there it wouldn't leaving much room for anything else. I'm not packing for the Ritz but on long trips (5+ days) I like to have some different clothes.

Extra pair jeans, sweat pants, 3 or 4 thick socks, extra set of thermals, 3 or 4 tops, shoes, swim trunks, underwear, toiletries, extra gloves, extra balaclava, and room for my gauntlets depending on the temp.

It was a tight squeeze to get all my stuff in the bag. 8) I normally take soft shoes that you can easily bend into the bag. I only take one pair of jeans and wear thermal fleece plants under my bibs. I normally only take 2 shirts instead of 3-4.

The Poo guys I rode with had monster bags and I think they thought we were staying at the Ritz. Then again, they had to bring lots of oil for their 2 smokes.

Good deal. ;)!

I really like the look of the smaller bags. I wish I could have gotten them to work for me.

I now even have the seperate trunk bag to carry more none clothing items like tow rope, siphon hose, extension cord for my block heater, tape, zip ties, rags, etc, etc. You never when that trail Gremlin :( will strike you or one of your riding partners.

I have these same saddle bags

Anyone with a 03 using this style have a look where the two straps come down the back of the seat. The straps on these bags are wearing holes in your seat. The seam on the 04 is differant. Just a problem with the 03's just to give you a heads up!!! My seat cover needs replaced after 1 season's use with saddle bags.
