Going to make a template to stud machine and looking for a good pattern!
Sled will be tuned around 260hp
100% trail rider 1 1/4 track
Thinking of:
Studs 1.50 mega bites or 1.54 gold diggers
3 per row (a double and single on each row)
8 rows then repeat template
Any advice or suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated

Here is how I have studded my sleds since 2006

I run 1.45" studs 2 doubles then 2 singles and so on .With a TD PT .Balance it out or you"ll be one of the guys wondering why you have a vibration

I ran a 4 (2-double backers) 3 (singles) 3(singles) pattern for a total of 160. Just use the Woody's 137 template (286 T- I believe) that has doubles and singles and create as many scratch lines as possible.

the 2/4/2 pattern works really well....

1.450s ....I don't like any taller, you will bend them.

Not understanding the single backers with the double backers. The whole reason for double backers is to gain greater support and lessen the tendency for tear outs. The mix of both is only accomplishing half of what we are trying to achieve here! So now half the studs installed are still vulnerable to this effect, hmmmm?

2/4/2 is a long proven snowcross pattern.

I have run singles my entire life before this....and never had a pull out. Nothing wrong with singles at all. Many guys run all singles and never have issues. I only tried this snowcross pattern as it is so well documented to hook well. And I do like it.

When I mentioned the pattern I ran ( 2 double backers, 3 singles, 3 singles) to Larry Tiede from Woody's he just winked and nodded in agreement. Adding 16 studs and double backers to the proven 144 (3,3,3) both reduce the likelihood of stud pull out.

Thanks for the suggestion I will stick with 1.450 stud length as you recommended
I went with the Woodies template since i could not find the studboy template you suggested in Canada and to ship from the US was crazy
